Re: Charges-Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash
On Thursday June 28, 2018 a motor vehicle crash occurred in the intersection of Marlowe and Franklin. The crash resulted in the death of Nora E. Swi ft-
Kakusa, 43 yrs old of Lakewood. The crash was investigated by the Lakewood Police Department with the assistance of the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and the Lakewood Prosecutors office.
The facts of the case were presented to the Lakewood Prosecutors office. Zane T. Havlin, 25 yrs old of Lakewood, has been charged with Vehicular
Manslaughter (2903.06/ M-2) and Operations at a Stop Sign (331.19).
Mr. Havlin’s initial appearance in court is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday September 4, 2018 at 9:00am.

He might see 6 months in county jail if even that . . .and lose his license for a year. Just don't see the fairness here. Hopefully, the family can pursue Civil litigation.

Court appearance was today and since he pled not guilty there will be pretrials and a trial.
There is a contingent on Facebook that are upset at the misdemeanor charge.

Driver was sentenced today to 1-year probation, and 100 hours of public service. He was also ordered to make full financial restitution to the family for all costs involved in the accident.
