FIXED! For all but a couple homes. Great work City of Lakewood work crews and Lakewood Police!

Image
A severe water main break at Franklin and Riverside caused low water pressure.

Image
Police arrived quickly and immediately started to block off the street and get street crews out.

Image
While not a major water main it flooded the entire street.

Image
Eventually causing the street to start to bubble up.

Image
While waiting for street crews water started bubbling up from other locations. This was the location of a tree last year!

Image
From the bubble in the road, fill started to wash out, causing the road to be unstable.

Image
Lakewood street crews arrived.

Image
You can see how much the road bubbled up in an hour.

Image
Drilling holes to locate both the pipe and the break.

Image
A water main whisperer listening to a long steel rod. He can hear where the main is, and hear the break.

A few more holes to set the boundary of the hole that needs to be dug.

Image
A couple more listens and more holes, then time to dig it up.

Franklin will have no water for awhile, low pressure in the area, and it might be best to boil water first for drinking if you are in the area.

An evening with Lakewood Police and City crews always gives me a good feeling about the city, what is going on, and how safe and well taken care of we are.

Thank you Lakewood Police and City Crews.

8am update...

Image
Something worth noting. Look how uneven the road bed is. This road as many in Lakewood were done with what has affectionately been called the "Jimmy Dimora Street Painter" which eats up the road surface and redeposits it. It is not as good as a tear down to the road bed and traditional buildup. In some places it is 8" in some places 1.5". I would imagine this causes all sorts of issues over the years. Is it worth the savings? I do not know.
