The Mission closing its doors after 21 years in Lakewood, moving to Kamm's Corners.

The Mission started in Chris Andrew's Madison Village area as one of the many alternative shops Chris worked to bring in to back up his Warped Records, Uncle Scrath's B-Ware Video and other unique shops.

Last year the Mission was hit with some hate/religious crime graffiti, and the seeds were sewn time to move on.

We also lost Curry Copy after 30 years.

We thank you for your time and effort here, and wish you well.

This is a shame.
I certainly hope the graffiti incident isn't the reason they are leaving.

Madison Village was such a great concept....it was a great scene during the 1990s.
It's the sort of thing that the city should have nurtured, not discouraged.

Here's a description of my actual experience owning a business in Lakewood:

1. Incident One: Graffiti on the inside walls of my landlord's building;

2. Incident Two: Graffiti on the outside walls of my landlord's building; and,

3. Incident Three: A 6:00am armed robbery (mugging) at the bus-stop in front of my landlord's building.

How many incidents like this does it take for a business to make the decision to relocate?
