Thank you to the Joint Veterans Council of Lakewood and Rocky River for the Memorial Day remembrance this past Monday at Lakewood Park Cemetery. Mr. Richard Healy, war veteran, master of ceremonies and Lakewood resident, has been a primary force behind this ceremony for many years which is always a moving tribute. Thanks also to the many youth volunteer members of Lakewood’s H2O program who supported the ceremony by placing flags at the gravesites of the cemetery's interred veterans.

I found out the City of Lakewood does not have a Memorial Day Parade, yet they have a Spooky Pooch Parade. How cute and the City does have its' priorities in line with liberal Democrats' dogma. We stay in a small town in PA [15,000] and they have a significant parade with a huge crowd lining the street. This American city has photos of servicemen [paid by the family] on signs mounted on light poles that are permanent. Is it a burden on the City of Lakewood having one of the highest taxes rates in northern Ohio or is it just the fact the City of Lakewood doesn't care about the men and women that gave there lives for their freedom? Perhaps the City's government view on Memorial Day is these men and women gave their lives so they could have a paid day off work. The City of Lakewood should be proud, it's all about appearances due to scores of "ordinances " and not patriotism or to honor those who fought and died for their country.

Yawn, Yawn again
Good post, but your hatred is showing.
1) Plenty of liberals have died in combat fighting in wars they did not start.
2) Do you have any history on who started spook pooch parade?
Naw, just an opening for some blind hatred and attacks.
yawn

Doesn't Lakewood participate with Rocky River in a major observance in that City?

Hatred, hardly I won't waste my energy on hate. What are you referring to, this has nothing to do with those who died or those of us who served, so don't redirect the question. The question, why doesn't Lakewood have a memorial day parade?

As already mentioned in this thread, Lakewood and Rocky River jointly observe Memorial Day with a parade and ceremony at Lakewood Cemetery.
Given the location of Lakewood Cemetery, the parade takes place in RR for logistical reasons.
