Skype - Vonage - wifi voip questions

I have been using a Skype usb phone for several months and have had good luck with the phone and the service. Below is a link of a new phone that just came out. I know there are less expensive wifi voip phones, but they only work on Vonage, etc. and not Skype. Is Vonage's service as good as Skype's? I know Vonage is more expensive (esp since Skype is free until the end of the year if you call USA or Canada), but I don't know how good the service is. I believe you also get a year of free PSTN service with the phone below, once it becomes available. Does anyone have any experience with PSTN or know anything about it firsthand? I have read their website, although it is a little over my head.

Maybe a wifi voip phone would be good to use in the new wifi corridors I heard will be coming to Lakewood.

I would really like to stick it to TMobile, et al.

Thanks.

I use Packet8 and have pretty good luck with it so far. Sound quality and features are great, and is $5 less per month than Vonage...

Thanks for the inside scoop, David. I will check them out.

Apparently Skype does not work with many of the wireless wifi voip phones, because Skype uses some kind of unique proprietary set up while other voip companies use some kind of industry standard. Maybe it is because Skype is P2P while many others aren't.

Yeah, Skype doesn't use the SIP standard that the VOIP providers use.
