Should Mayor Summers Be Recalled?

Mike Summers has two years remaining in office.
To put a recall on the ballot, it would take about 2100 signatures.
As evidenced by the most recent election, his popularity has nosedived.
People are waking up to his dishonesty on a wide range of fronts.
Should a recall be pursued?
Why or why not?

Mike,

First, a wise policeman once pointed out to me. "Never pull out a gun unless you are ready to pull the trigger, immediately." Meaning, instead of the discussion, pull the petitions and get it going. To doing otherwise is to give the person the chance to pull theirs. ie, repeal pit bull ban, and slide it off to the Council's fault. If you look at release, and news stations this is what he has done. Solstice steps is another example of look here, while I do what I want there.

Why?
1) it would create a small interruption in the flow from the Mayor's rock hard control over now a part of council, and other activities in the city.
2) It is always nice to remind elected officials that at some point they have to represent residents, and be accountable to residents. Not just their click or base.

Why not?
1) Rules of succession.
2) Chaos that follows could have long lasting effects, both good or bad.
3) Be careful what you wish for.

The real reason most of us who participate on the Deck would support a recall is to hold the Mayor accountable for the many instances of malfeasance we've seen reported here. Apparently there is not enough for law enforcement, or for any involvement of law enforcement that we know of.

However, the more serious issues do not have the same public buy-in as the Charlie issue. Any recall effort would have to key off of the dogs. They might retract the BSL law at the last minute but look at the Mayor's track record on this and many other things. He ain't backing down.

As much as some would like to point to the results of the last election, they came because of strong young candidates, and the dog issue.

So in terms of what might happen afterward, what many of us are wishing for is justice, not just a change in personnel.
In terms of talking about it before anybody steps forward ready to act, this mayor isn't changing for any reason.
