Saturday at the Church, 15300 Puritus Ave. , the parishioners are preparing Chicken Paprika, to go or eat in, I'm there, I will get two to go, one for today and one for tomorrow, or if a friend stops by. yum yum eat em up.

Ok, so I got there at 2:00 pm, they had sold out of the white chicken with the dumplings, also gone was the stuffed cabbage rolls with dumplings, they had dark meat and they offered it with elbow macaroni, ok, with the gravy, so I settled for that, I prefer the dark meat anyway, but would have loved the dumplings, but the gravy was great. Next time I'm going to be there at 12 noon, when they start servings. Take note, DECEMBER 2ND. The West Side Hungarian Reformed Church, 15300 Puritas Ave. 12:00 till 3 pm. I'm sure Lakewood has some church's too, like Baba's Kitchen on 13300 Madison, stuffed cabbage, cabbage and noodles, porogies, every Friday. Can't be beat. Take out only. Made by the sweet little old ladies and gentleman, just like home.

I wish someone would publish all the area's ethnic Church's dinners, the 'Kiwanis, VFW Clubs, the schools, made by the parishioners, in the Lakewood Observer, every month. I'd dine like I was at home again.

Yes Kate, a Taste of Europe"", so good, so close, so reasonably priced, where can you get home made Weinerschnitel with spätzle's for $7.00? My late mother in law used to charge me $13.00. and no bread. the witch. And was never on TV.

When I got home with my chicken paprika, from the church, served with the elbow macaroni, lol, that's ok, I said to my self, how nice of the ladies to go beyond the line to accommodate me, but I want spätzle's. so I made them myself, it took less time than boiling the water.

I wish a restaurant would open up that would offer daily home cooked meals, every day of the week, 6 or 8 different options each day, (like the old Miller's restaurant on Detroit, ) How great would that be, if he place was still there? complete with all the sides, potatoes, vegetable, salad, soup, bread, sticky buns, right here in Lakewood, eat in or take out. Or Sloviansk's in Tremont, Reuse the soon to be vacant, ""K Mart"" that is closing on Lorain & W 150th st.

The only restaurant I know of, that really roast whole turkeys for their diners, is "George's Kitchen" on Trisket & Berea Rd. On Sunday and Tuesday you can get a true turkey dinner, to go or eat in, for $7.35 cents. A real roasted turkey dinner, both white & dark meat, mashed potatoes, (I DON'T THINK THEY ARE HOMEMADE) probably Bob Evens frozen, but ok, stuffing, gravy, green beans, salad, soup, bread & butter and cranberry sauce. Wish I had an apartment above the place. It works for me. If you know of another place, please pass it on.

I'll tell ya, I like the Winking Lizard a lot, great people, good food and the daily specials are great, I'm known as the "souper man" I get soup many times during the week, and they also have turkey dinners, but it's the frozen processed white turkey breast, I don't want that, it's dry, like my late wife was.

I want to have a real whole roasted turkey dinner, not a turkey breast, I mentioned it to the waitress, would the owner even consider it? It's just my preference, I want a real turkey dinner. Make soup the next day from the carcass. It would be nice, if the Winking Lizard "would go all out, and have a real turkey diner", the price of a turkey is so cheap, that it is not even an issue.

My turkey dinner from Georgie's Kitchen will feed me for 2 days, unless my Horney grandfather stops by, I mean, hungry grandfather. ,

White & dark, meat, processed gravy, boxed instant mashed potatoes, ok, boxed stuffing, ok, green beans, salad, soup, chicken noodle, bread & butter. $7.35 what? My mother charged me $13.00. It's the best deal I town, the prize is the turkey, it's real roasted turkey, not a processed turkey breast. not to mention, all of the rest that comes with it. .

Evidently, you overdosed on gravy...

Todd, that is so funny, and so far from me, George's Turkey dinner will feed me for two days, I weigh the same at age 66, as I did in High School, West Tech, 150 lbs, Class of 1971. Wish I looked the same, I wish I felt the same, at least, I still think the same.
