We had a great 4th of July. Maybe my favorite holiday here in Lakewood.

We didn't go to the fireworks, but our kids did with their friends. They complained that there was debris from the fireworks - that they never had experienced before. One of their friends got cut from the debris - not seriously - but was bleeding pretty well by the time she got to the car. We cleaned her up and gave her a bandage. They weren't that close to the fireworks as they kept moving back to the sidewalk.

I got to work and my office manager told me her daughter had complained about the ashes falling too.

Was it the wind, was it a new firm? Did anyone else experience this?

Lynn, we were across from the park on Lake and everyone we were with thought the fireworks seemed awfully low this year. At one point after a particularly low one an ambulance came racing down the street. It stopped when it got to the park so we assumed everything was fine. There did seem to be a little bit of wind but no more than usual.

As for the 4th in Lakewood it was great as always. It is by far my favorite holiday here. I love the parade, the picnic, the concerts, the fun with family and friends and of course the fireworks.

One question I have is does the city enforce parking laws during the 4th? I saw several cars through out the day parked illegally, all without parking tickets on them. I would think the city would take advantage of the oppurtunity to make some additional cash. Heck they ticket residents enough, why not the out of towners?

I think there was a strange wind caused by windmills.

Actually, I noticed they were very low, too. I could hardly see any of them over the trees. I guess if you don't go to the park to see them, you might as well forget it. I had a much better view looking the other way (Euclid and Cleveland Heights perhaps?) and Cleveland.

I have tried to stay out of this thread but I can see that few remember.

About every 7-10 years, they really screw up the works. I believe they have set at least five houses on fire at different times.

I know once they were all set off at the same time.

Another time low works found there way "near" the crowd.

Kind of makes it exciting.
