John is the founder of "the electric eels" a proto-punk band according to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Proto-punk is a designation for bands that seemed like Punk, before the actual invention of Punk music. But what sets "the electric eels" apart is they have also been given credit for the first punk record ever recorded, "agitated." Which allows a majority of books covering the era to call them the original. What also is fascinating is that the "Dead Boys" also from Lakewood/Cleveland were at all the very limited number of shows "the electric eels" ever played, and certainly took their schtick, and monetized it.
I digress.
At the wedding out at Wallace Lake in Berea, a familiar figure walked across the grass, and into view. Lakewood Municipal Judge Pat Carroll. Why?
So John and Carla were looking to get hitched. Carla a Canadian, and John, now living on a farm in upstate New York, had decided on the Cleveland area. So John in his search for the proper person to marry them, called "Cleveland's Minister of Culture," Michael Heaton, also a one-time Lakewood resident. Michael explained that he could not officiate at a real marriage, but he had a great idea for who could: Lakewood's Municipal Judge, Patrick Carroll. So for this singular historic event, Judge Carroll also became "Cleveland's Magistrate of Culture" aka "The Rock and Roll Judge."

John Morton meets Judge Carroll, and they immediately bond over great talk about Lakewood, and the ceremony about to happen.

First kiss as man and wife.

Judge Carroll introduces the newly married couple to friends and the world.
Monday morning, after Carla and John got settled into the honeymoon, she took the time to post the following on Facebook.
We'd like to thank Judge Patrick Carroll for excluding that whole "obey" thang from the wedding vows...
Here is the Apache Wedding Prayer Judge Carroll included in our ceremony:
Now you will feel no rain, For each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold, For each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no loneliness, For each of you will be companion to the other. Now you are two bodies,
But there is only one life before you, now and always!
(I can't tag everybody--Andrew Klimeyk, Cheese Borger, Judge Patrick Carroll, and [gosh!] my own mom.
Love you all!
It was a great time, and a fun wedding, and watching Judge Carroll reminded me how lucky we are, and what a good guy Pat is.
