The city is actively recruiting a Public Information Officer. If you are interested, see the posting below for job requirements and duties. Spread the word!

"The ideal candidate will have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with less than 8 points" as stated in the job posting.

See Ohio Revised Code at http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4510.036 for how points are assessed. Points remain on your record for only a period of two years according to OSBA's website.

I am a passive driver so eight points accumulated in two years seems like a lot to me. I wouldn't want to necessarily see an otherwise well qualified applicant overlooked but I am curious to know if this is a standard hiring practice.

Good luck to the candidates.

Well it's rather amusing that the city requires a valid drivers license when it's former mayor, Ed Fitzgerald,
went for 10 years without one!

I can't get on a plane without a valid drivers license, or rent a car, or buy car insurance without providing my Ohio DL. How in the world did he manage to get by without one for that long?

As point of clarification, you absolutely CAN get on a plane without a valid driver's license. Passport or other valid state ID (non-driver's license) is absolutely allowed.

Yes, Matthew, I know that. But I'd bet MOST people use their DL.

He certainly didn't bother to get a state ID either or he could have gotten a DL for the same effort.

I'm supposing he used his passport.

Wasn't the Public Information Officer Colin?

Did Mr. McEwen quit City Hall?

If so, why?

This is very interesting. Mr. McEwen was similar to a "right-hand man" of Summers and City Council.

Does anyone have any insight into Mr. McEwen's seemingly sudden departure?
