Driver In Officer Velez Death Found Not Guilty Of AVH

Joshua Gasper, age 37, was the driver of the car that hit and killed Ohio State Trooper Kenneth Velez, September 14, 2016 on (-90.

Mr. Gasper, was found to have a prescribed amount of methadone in his system. A doctor testified that people can drive on methadone, other people testified, he just never bothered to slow down.

A witness had said, he was following the car in front to closely and ran onto the berm, hitting and killing the officer.

This was a tragedy. But let me inject the idea that I have not yet seen expressed---specifically that the Officer was not positioned safely and in fact was a threat to safety. There is no worse place for congestion for someone with a threatening armament to distract high speed drivers. His posting requires a review of all police departments in positioning of law enforcement, particularly in this age of Trump.

He was found guilty of four misdemeanor charges, including driving with a suspended license and tampering with records.

If his license was suspended he should not have been on the road in the first place.
