Last night around 10pm a call went out for a fire at West 110 and Franklin. A warehouse that was used for various storage and trucking companies.

The man who lives just north of the building said, "I heard some sirens and looked out and saw nothing, then I looked out of my son's bedroom, and a could see flames way in the back corner of the warehouse. Within 15 minutes the flames burst through the roof and I knew it was going to be bad.

DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY: Lets build some more of those Brickman "Luxury Townhomes", those " George Jetson" type units and put them in a nearly 100 year old neighborhood, a community with historic roots, that would be just perfect...

not in my eyes... Reminds me of the "haves" looking down at the "have nots" ? What were they thinking ?

Along detroit, those town homes, why didn't the plan arise where there were traditional store fronts down with apartments up? to blend in with the existing neighborhood? With balconies on the second & third floors? What is so luxurious about sitting on your front door stoop, watching whatever go by?

The owners could have rented out the first floor commercial units to what ever business was viable, income, taxes for the city, business thriving, like Crocker Park? Stop the development in it's tracks. Can't we refigure this before it's too late?

Just my opinion, maybe I haven't seen see the other view, other thoughts ?

I hope the business owners had everything covered and can survive the hit, and I want to thank Lakewood's, Mayor Summers, that no one was injured.

W110th St. isn't Lakewood. As usual, Lakewood Fire has come to assist a neighbor. Scott Gillman, our Fire Chief, would probably the the guy on the scene with the Lakewood team. Chief Gillman does a good job.
