Expected speakers are:
- Heather Taylor-Miesle, Executive Director of the Ohio Environmental Council. Heather will give a brief overview of the OEC, discuss some local impacts of climate change, and talk about how we are working on these issues (and how folks can get involved). Heather has more than 18 years' experience working with our nation’s top decision-makers for environmental and public heath protections.
- Glenn Campbell, a volunteer with Citizens' Climate Lobby, will discuss carbon fee-and-dividend, a bipartisan idea promoted by CCL. This proposal would place a fee on carbon fuels (coal, oil, gas), but refund all the proceeds to U.S. households in monthly checks. A revenue-neutral carbon tax would encourage the transition to renewable energy.
- Lakewood Councilman Tom Bullock will present information on behalf of the Climate Action Campaign and the National Wildlife Federation. President Trump's proposed budget would zero out Lake Erie restoration, gut the EPA, and take us back to the days when toxic rivers caught fire. We'll provide postcards to write representatives, and speak up on behalf of our lakes and rivers.
