It happened in Chicago earlier this year and the Law Director resigned.

http://wgntv.com/2017/01/16/aldermen-ca ... epartment/

Public records recently released reveal that Law Director Butler has kept certain of his dealings with the Clinic and LHA secret from City Council and the public.

In a recent Court filing, Mr. Butler wrote "tens (and possibly hundreds) of thousands" of records have not been produced. Many of these public records concern Mr. Butler's dealings and interactions with the Clinic, LHA, Huron Consulting and others. Has she made City Council aware of these records and his dealings?

How much more taxpayer money will Lakewood City Council allow the Law Department to spend to defend the Clinic and keep Summers' and Butler's dealings with the Clinic, Huron Consulting and LHA secret from City Council and the citizens of Lakewood?

Mr. Kindt recently suggested write Council to have them ask for an independent investigation of the Law Department.

Does anyone on Council have the courage to speak up and call for an investigation or reign in an out of control Law Department spending public money to defend itself?

Brian,
I do not believe for one minute that Butler has been hiding records from City Council. It appears that all of them are in this big mess together and are scrambling to make everything look legitimate.

If Council were to call for the Feds to do an investigation, wouldn't that mean that they were asking for an investigation on themselves too?

Not a chance. The Council knows that if they don't hang together they will hang separately.

Council are all members of the Summers and Extended Company Club.

They will stick together for awhile, but, if needs be, they will throw each other to the wolves!

...and this goes back to why we need to elect people with independent mindsets and strong principles to those three at-large positions this year.

People are only kidding themselves if they think that Butler, Summers, Council and all the other Company members don't know exactly what information is contained in the documents that Kevin Butler is holding hostage.

A prerequisite to being a Council Member is that you have to say "aye" to everything Summer's wants. Intelligent self thinkers need not apply.

It appears that all of the above said persons have allegedly participated in some unethical, if not illegal, activities when it comes to the City of Lakewood , especially from the financial stand point.

In my humble opinion, they all need to be investigated!

I have asked the Mayor on several occasions to come on the Deck and speak for himself to put some of the Lakewood resident's questions / concerns to rest. Apparently, he will only talk for the Cleveland Clinic or some other friend's "economic development" project he is trying to sell to us! The rest of us are forced to put up with the comments from the Deck Watchers peanut gallery!

If the Mayor truly has done nothing wrong, all he has to do is speak and show us the hundreds of documents that he apparently has put in the hands of Kevin Butler to guard with his life. What could be in all those records being held hostage? Something incriminating perhaps?

Well Dan O'Malley hasn't answered but the Ohio Appeals Court has.

And here is what they said:

TURN OVER THE PUBLIC RECORDS!

Dan O'Malley certainly has NOT been walking the streets in Ward 4! The same graffiti has been on the same buildings for over two years.

Perhaps his lawyers have told him to stay silent.

A slip of the lips sinks ships. I believe the ship at city hall just sprung a leak!

Mr. O'Malley, Silence is complicity. I still hope for a response from my city councilperson but until then let's move on...
