This is the annual Feast of St. Patrick Day, since the 17th Century when it became officially celebrated.

Great parties and corned beef all over town! Enjoy!

The custom of wearing green or wearing shamrocks comes from the fact that St. Patrick used the Shamrock to explain the divinity of Christ.

Well, with the accent placed correctly—"Sláinte"—I believe it would be valid Irish.

With an accent over the "e," I suppose it's Frankicized pseudo-Irish? (Or just poor command of diacritical marks.)

that would be an "accent grave" if my 9th grade French serves me. Anyway looks like we are still on the right side of Blasted, for the moment at least!
