What started off a winter wonderland, is becoming a killing field.

Men and Women, be careful shoveling snow. Do not over work, do not lift more than you can.

As the sun has popped out the snow has gone from fluffy to wet, though it is not melting at 23 degrees. Take your time, shovel a little, often.

Clear a path, as Gary asked, then go back and make it a little wider.

And always make friends, and have coffee and breakfast ready for the neighbor with the snow blower!

Hi Jim and everyone,

"One Shovel Wide" was the song that Dad and I wrote and finished on the very day that he passed away in January 2015. The song concerns a heroic Lakewood mother who shoveled our street, one shovel wide, so that all the kids could get to school. My good friends Rick and Cindy Benjamin helped me to put the song out there for you. It truly shed a good light on our city.

Here's a link to the "One Shovel Wide" video:

It's also important to note that there are plenty of snow shoveling alternatives for those having health or aging issues. Lakewood's Senior Center (521-1515) can provide advice and resources, and don't forget the many private show shoveling companies that can help, as well. The Center also provides a great meals on wheels program and many other ways to help Lakewood's seniors.

There are so many wonderful aspects to living here in Lakewood. I do understand that controversies continue to surround our community, but I also think that it's so important that we often remind ourselves of the many things that are RIGHT about our town, as well. :D

Back to the banjo! :D
