Division of Income Tax - No Forms Mailed to our Subjects

Post by Richard Baker »

I assume Lakewood residents have received their "going green" postcard informing them that the Division of Income Tax will no longer be mail the city's income tax form to residents. With the City of Lakewood typical policy of less service and more arrogance towards the residents of the City, they now require you travel to the City Hall to pick one up.

All of the residents that don't own or operate a computer or wish to file paper returns due to cyber risks must drive to the city hall and pick up a copy of the tax return. Using the City's moronic definition of "going green," these residents will use their electric cars or ride on the huge articulating buses that don't emit greenhouse gasses and are crowded with two or three passengers to pick up an income tax form at city hall. This will have less impact on the environment than the mailman delivering the city's income tax form in your mailbox.

The Dept of Income Tax didn't give the option that you can request an income tax mailed to your home. However, I suggest everyone in the city call the Department of Income tax, if the wait is too long, call the Mayor's office or your City Councilman's home number.

Since the residents work for the City employees and Council, they want you to file online into the city's "mickey mouse secured" server and database. If you do, you will be at risk that your personal financial information may be hacked. I suggest you insist the city mail you an income tax return form and don't use the online filing system.

That aside this "going green" hypocrisy verifies the current Administration's ignorance, lack of common sense and abusive attitude toward the residents. I suggest "cleaning house" is order in the next election and if it's not done, "clean house" again. Only then will you have a City Council and Administration that will serve the residents.
