After working "Open Mic Night" for years, and being seen all over Cleveland, Mt. Philharmonic came to the Root Café tonight and to be honest, it was amazing. It was one of those shows that had you tapping your feet, even dancing. But after leaving I said to myself, "what did I just see?"
It was like watching John Lee Hooker set up, then do a blues acoustic version of a Sun Ra set. (references will follow) What started off as a "Huh?" moment soon saw people tapping their toes and grooving on the hypnotic back beat of Mt. Nepal Philharmonic.
Once in a blue moon you see a band you just can't unsee, but you really don't want to. Sometimes they become favorites.
Next time they are at the Root, check them ou1.
Other bands with Lakewood connections you are glad you saw, if you saw them just because they were just something else and different...
