Within the past year, but mostly within the past six months, a few individuals have posted reviews on Google+ regarding Lakewood's "State-of-the-Art ER". All but one of the reviews have been less than complementary.

See below for the text of these reviews, found on Google +
1. I can't tell you how disappointed in this place I am. I am from california and just moved here, have no primary GP. I went to the ER because my knees were buckling out from under me and in severe pain. This was on a monday, doctor gave me antiinflammatory and said to me that he would be in trouble if he prescribed any actual pain medications! Said some BS about the governor and that "if your bone was sticking out through your leg I could prescribe pain meds: - Look I know people drug seek and they have to take measures against that but I have been in severe pain for two weeks now including a week after I went to the ER and have been taking the anti inflammatory - I don't know where to even go now because I don't trust this place to take me seriously or treat me!!
2. This place is absolutely horrible. I went in with screaming stomach and back pain been vomiting can't eat or drink anything or sleep. Told them everything about a pre-existing condition that I'm pretty sure i was having a flare up. They did not listen at all. They gave me a bag of fluid and did some blood work and let a dude doctor give a Pelvis exam! I said back and stomach. Nothing to dull any pain and let me sit there just like that for 3 hours and i asked twice if I could have something! Anything! Doesn't need to b a narcotic I'm just extremely uncomfortable. So they give me some clear liquid to gargle that makes your mouth go numb. I couldn't believe it. Then they said they couldn't give me a CT scan cause they don't have the proper drips. So that they were gonna have 2 transfer me to Cleveland clinic via ambulance. Total lies and bullshit. Dr.Walsh you should not be a doctor. You're absolutely horrible. I took my IV out and drove to North Royalton ER when they actually enjoy and do there jobs right.
Grammar is probably not this guy's strong point, but you get the idea:
3. I'm not happy at all with da results....i had a head injury from July in a fight so I been gettin dizziness n plus bile movements dats been causing my left side to be in pain n I explained dat to da doctors dey gave me.... i also asked for a sad test so I can know my results just for health n safety purposes.... da two nurses were very rude to me n said dey were gonna make me piss in a cup to run tests and hurry up n get me outta here.... den da two women at da front desk gave me two wrong numbers to human resources... da numbers were disconnected.... and an older nurse said a racial slurry after I told her I didn't wanna talk about da nurse issue I had with her but to just do da job of checkin to see wats wrong wit my body...... i really want somethin done about this.... there is no way these people should be in charge of people's lives or condition with da attitudes n non interest dey have in patients..... dats not right... either changes need to be made or I would prefer going to court.... but somethin needs to be done immediately..... n I asked for human resources number just to report it.... but like I said the two women (one black with glasses n one white) were laughing when I told em why I asked for human resources and gave me a Lutheran number dat was disconnected and another one for da old lakewood hospital dat was disconnected
Also, don't forget the friend of my mother's who had a stroke. Despite her objections, Lakewood EMS transported her to Lakewood ER anyway, where she laid for several hours before being told "the MRI machine is broke, you have to go to Fairview". That is an extra $799 ambulance charge. This is a stroke victim we are talking about. This sounds like Medicare/Medicaid fraud.

From what I have heard and seen, this ER appears to simply be a money-making front for Michael P. Summers, City Council, and Cleveland Clinic.

In summary, did City Hall have Lakewoodites on their mind or just dollar signs?

Not taking sides, but I have to think these are as good and real as YELP Reviews.

Even after YELP got busted paying people in India to write tens of thousands of reviews of establishments in countries they were never in.

Internet!

Carry on.

Jim,

I really don't believe that anybody could make this up. If anything, I think it would be the mayor's people being paid to write good reviews.

In addition to these reviews, we have my mother's friend, the late Norman, the late patient with a pulmonary embolism, and my friend's son that had to be sent to Metro for a 2nd degree burn. Metro put a bandage on it and sent him home.

Not to mention there has been at least one instance of a mentally ill patient being denied treatment, escorted out of the building, and cited by police, according to police reports. Drunks causing disturbances in the place almost nightly. Unruly patients assaulting staff. To be frank, the place sounds like a hellhole.

I have been in contact with several persons who received care there and have been documenting their experiences. I will post more after investigation and if I get permission from the patients.

I think it is slightly insensitive to be making light of the way people have been treated, unless anyone can prove their complaints are untruthful.

Thanks for the find, Lori. Could you let me know the link where the reviews are? I searched Google Plus and am doing something wrong as I cannot find it. Thanks!

Every time I have doubted you, I have lost. Every time. I am learning.

Still, this like so many things in America, it reminds me of a comment from Chris Rock about the OJ Simpson verdict, "Some people too happy, some too mad."

Both sides had extreme followers, though one side pushed legal and moral envelopes daily.

I think, and I could be wrong, but by the end of the investigation, and the fine for the fake reviews, it cost yelp nearly $0.015 cents a review more for their bogus reviews.

.

The link I try to post doesn't seem to go through, but here are the steps to get to the reviews:

1. Go to Google and type in "Cleveland Clinic Lakewood ER"
2. On the right-hand side of the search results, there will be the address and telephone number for the ER. Just below the telephone number is a link that says "4 Google reviews". Click on that and the reviews should come up.

Lori,
From what I've heard, the state-of-the-art ER is on the way, it's not even built yet and won't open until sometime in 2018. Everyone in Lakewood should keep their problems in check until then!

As far as the current ER goes, well, I can't recall any such promises from the Clinic other than it will "remain open-24/7/365". That's it. Let's face it, the Clinic has abandoned Lakewood and we are on our own until 2018.

Also, don't count on being able to use the new ER either. The Clinic doesn't accept my families insurance plan, even though it's over $1000/mo now! Ain't no way I'm ever stepping in that place and pay their full price. No doubt it would be ruinous for us.

The reviews, if legit, are truly sad. Welcome to the new "future of healthcare"!

A friend of mine visited the Minute Clinic at CVS on 117th because she had bronchitis. The physicians assistant recommended that she go to the emergency room. EMS was called and responded quickly. When they asked where she would like to go she said, "Lakewood". They replied, "We can't take you to Lakewood. We have to take you to Fairview."

We know that if you suspect you are having a heart attack or stroke you won't be taken to the stand alone ER.

We know that if you are hit by a car you won't be taken to the stand alone ER.

We know if you fall off your bike, trip down the stairs, pass out on the baseball field or get injured in accident you won't be taken to the stand alone ER.

Lakewood's stand alone ER is not that much different than others around the Country. What they have in common is that they charge Emergency Room prices for Minute Clinic services.

The Mayor and his supporters like to pretend that they gave the Hospital issue a lot of thought. PRETEND is the right word.

If they gave it ANY thought at all they wouldn't have burdened the people of Lakewood with a facility that offers minute clinic services with Emergency Room prices.

Bill,
I believe your financial status and what type of insurance you have determine where you are taken. My mother's elderly friend who is on medicare has had two strokes since the band-aid clinic opened. The second stroke, she requested that she NOT go to Lakewood. Lakewood EMS took her there anyway. After lying there for a couple of hours, they decided to do an MRI. The MRI machine was broke and she had to be taken to Fairview.

It appears that if you have medicare or medicaid, or are just plain poor, you get taken to Lakewood band-Aid Clinic first.

Could this be some kind of a scam?
