“...when you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have a moral obligation, a mission,
and a mandate to say something, to do something, we cannot afford to be silent. ” John Lewis 1.21.2017 (Woman's March, Atlanta)

Great issue with photos from Lakewoodites at the Woman's March, an unbelievable show of unity around the globe!

Lakewoodites and so much more. Isn't it time you joined in?

I wasn't expecting my Deck post to be in the print paper....

I'm sure Team Summers will send in a rebuttal in the next issue.
It will read something like this:

*Solstice Steps!
*Real estate market is hot! (ignore the threat of another housing bubble)
*Lakewood values diversity! (certain kinds, at least)
*Solstice Steps!
^The Future of Health Care (ignore all those stories you hear about long waits and bed shortages)
*Did we mention Solstice Steps?
*We won the hospital vote! (a variation on Trump's "suck it up, buttercup!)

I wonder which one of the City Hall hacks will submit the piece.
Bullock?
Pae?
Beebe?
Kenny?

Place your bets.

Mike Deneen! Another big meanie-pants!

This administration sure sounds Trumpian. They can't stand truth, facts, or dissent.

I really hoped that Lakewood's contribution to the women's marches would appear in the Observer.

Really appreciate that Margaret et al. put together a good record of it.

The article about Dennis Petkac and the fundraiser for him is a stirring read, also.

Good issue.

Being a stickler for accuracy and details, I have to bring up a beef I have with the front page image of the demolition going on at Detroit and Belle.

First off, it's NOT THE HOSPITAL that's being demoed in the photograph (despite what the paper says), but what was known as the Professional Office Building (or P.O.B.).

The byline, "Demolition work continues on Lakewood Hospital on Detroit Road" under the photograph is just plain wrong and misleading!

C'mon, how did this get past the editor? Do they realize the difference between all the buildings involved??

Lakewood Hospital is not scheduled for demolition until the CCF's Family Health Center is up and running, sometime in 2018.

That said, great issue!

The mistake is mine. In final proofing that was pointed pout, at 3am, it slipped through the changes.

Buck stops here.

Hey Jim, We all do the best we can with the time we are given.

You are no exception and we all appreciate it.

So much misinformation out there, I hate to see it persist here in Lakewood and that's why I jump on such things.

Keep up the fine work!

This is what City Hall cannot understand, together we can make everything better, and more honest.

Thanks for the correction.

I've been there. It's the nature of the news business that mistakes will happen, and while editors sweat the small mistakes the most, it's the big ones that slip by. The test of a publication's integrity is how quickly and how adequately the mistake is corrected. In this case, the Lakewood Observer passed with flying colors.
