My Deal For City Hall

If you want to finally come clean, on all aspects of the hospital deal and BS task forces, and your unbelievable serious problems with hiring and firing...

... I will walk away from the Lakewood Observer by the end of the year, or 6 months after you release the last page.

You have spent millions of tax payer's dollars to say we were wrong, never proving one thing wrong.

You have spent millions of tax payer's dollars to work against a project that is Lakewood born, Lakewood run, and Lakewood owned.

You have spent millions and dragged good honest people into your deceit, lies, misinformation.

You have chosen to ruin lives and intimidate anyone who even questions you.

Let's reset the table, and give you one more chance to be honest with the people that elected you.

Gee, maybe then we can finally have that giant banjo campfire and hold hands and Lakewood will be one again, at least until we try to decide which song to begin the festivities with.

Right now, the only one I seem to be hearing is something about giving me shelter...

Or, could it have been Barry's song that I've been hearing? The eve of....what, exactly?

Sorry, you just have to excuse the meanderings of an old '60's...well, never mind all that.

Gotta get back to the banjo, I hear the drums starting to roll in the hills...

Thanks Jim.
Finally a glimpse into the inner sanctum and the frenzy of Executive session...

I think I can make out the rest in the background.

the eve of "destruction"

You got it Jackie!!

But you know, perhaps I was mistaken...

There was another song written to answer the lyrics of "The Eve of Destruction"...

It was called "The Dawn of Correction", sung by the Spokesmen. Out of respect for the original authors, I won't post any lyrics here, but they're easy enough to find, and if you read them, (particularly thinking about the change in American leadership shortly to transpire) these two songs are as timeless and relevant today as they were then, both for Lakewood, and for our nation. Two visions, one dream? Perhaps, perhaps not.

in 1965, when both "Eve" and "Dawn" were receiving airplay, a number of America's cities were burning and a number of Lakewoodites were very concerned that urban violence could well spill into our city.

I suppose that now, as then, Lakewood remains at much the same crossroads question.

Are we at the eve of destruction, or the dawn of correction?

Not trying to take over your thread Jim, just thinking about all this in musical terms...

Check out those lyrics, if you will, and perhaps, add to them..Bob Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind".

Timeless stuff.

Back to the banjo. :D

Well then, at least play Lakewood's theme song...

But seriously, in an effort to bring peace to Lakewood, release all the documents.

Come clean.

Interesting timing.

No calls or emails.

Funny they call it a cancer. Well, when they get caught.

And a great and honest publication when they send in articles about their kids.

You would think after spending millions, it was a good and fair offer to bring peace to Lakewood.

They all said they wanted to heal the cut? I have seen no offers from City Hall. No gestures at honesty or reconciliation.

Was that nothing more than more lies?

Is City Hall of telling the truth? I doubt it.

No calls or emails.
No calls or emails to YOU. I'm quite sure there has been a lot going back and forth amongst the "bad actors" as they plot their next method of attack.

Wonder what they'll think of next while they are clutching their pearls?

This is the crazy part, they spend so much time and money silencing critics, instead of telling the truth.

They plotted for at least 5 months to sue the Observer.

So much time, money and energy to lie to residents about a "great deal for Lakewood!"

For two election cycles, I have listened to our officials and civic leader worry about bringing the city together.

While I am seen by many very differentially, I would hope people realize I try to be fair.

Let's bring the city together.

From an advertiser...

I just got a strange phone call... Asked why we support the Observer. Said they hate you, and it makes you look stupid.
When asked their name, they hung up, and blocked their phone number. (but they used a phone, in the 21st century, duhhhhhh)

Welcome to Lakewood, Ohio.

My big mistake, I asked City Hall to be honest. WTF?

Is this really what this city stands for now?

We have reached the point where the problem is no longer limited to just Lakewood.

As I have previously written on the Deck, I remain deeply concerned that the city administration has filed a materially false affidavit in the Ohio appellate court (8th Circuit).

This is fully discussed in my series "Civic Accountability -- Honesty in Local Government I" at "Disclosure Problem No. 4".

If the city administration is prepared to take these kinds of unethical steps in the court system, they have moved beyond the pale.

Mr Kindt

What remedies does the court have in this type of situation? That is, if they recognize, or it is pointed out to them that the affidavit is false, are there any penalties for knowingly submitting a false affidavit to the court?

It sounds like perjury; is that likely to be addressed?
