Interesting Thought...
Many called us liars, and nasty over what was posted for two years.
Some demanding the truth, and retractions.
Every lawsuit against the city moving forward, laws proven to be broken, council president under perjury investigations, false affidavits, out right lies from council, the mayor, finance directors and civic leaders. They have trashed, sued, and harassed the messengers, but the facts in the messages remain unchallenged.
NEXT MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION FOR LAKEWOOD...
What if the LO was right all along?
Might be worthwhile for residents and businesses to start thinking of that answer.

Re: Interesting Thought...
While one lawsuit has perhaps gone well, I am still very concerned about the Edward Graham vs. City of Lakewood et al lawsuit. We are almost at the two-year mark and Judge O'Donnell still appears to be dragging his heels. He appears to have given Summers & Extended Co. a lot of time to get all of their demolition work done. By the time Judge O'Donnell gets around to processing this case in a timely fashion, everything will be built. Considering his campaign contributions, the fact that he is a Lakewood resident, is a member of the Lakewood Democratic Club, and almost lives in Summers' backyard, he should have recused himself immediately. He does not need permission from plaintiffs or defendants to recuse himself. In fact, I believe that the Rules of Judicial Conduct mandate that a judge is to recuse himself whenever there may even be an illusion of a conflict of interest. In this case, there is definitely more than an illusion of that, in my opinion.
Yes, I believe they know that they have been caught. Perhaps that is why Summers & Extended Co. appear to be racing to get everything done. Perhaps then they will flee to Bermuda (where City Hall's insurance company is) never to be seen again. Somewhere beyond extradition.

Lori
No lawsuit goes well.
Yes they have known they were caught since September 2014. I wish I would have broke it that day instead of trusting the Mayor to be honest. BIG MISTAKE
But at the end of the day, I like to let the courts, the police, FBI, Secret Service, SEC, Postal Inspecters, etc, do their jobs, and comment when it is all over.
Living near the mayor does not necessarily make you a fan, I think it is probably 40/60 after becoming mayor. 100% before.
Let's not forget, many upset over chickens, many upset over the big house being built, many upset over "overlook park."
I do not think I have ever seen the city so divide on so many issues.

I guarantee you the Clinic, LHA, and Summers want that lawsuit to go away. The fact that they have been unable to make that happen says a lot.

Re: Interesting Thought...
What if the Observers were right about only half of it?
It is still real bad.
Nearly everything done through City Hall and downstream has been proven to be a lie.
Even their water carries spread lies, that is what they are fed.
They have the words of one under-qualified lawyer, we have presented many lawyers, ex-asst attorney generals, ex-attorney, retired members of various federal groups, and the backing of the courts in so much as some of this is BS, and some of this is worth pursuing.
It seems to me, the judge in the hospital case is begging for a settlement to be crafted.
Which means he can understand the grounds of the complaint, and believes it could be in the courts for a long time.
Then there is the ever growing question,
Why is City Hall at war with so many residents and businesses?
Worst Lakewood administration of ALL TIME, history will underline this. Very Dark days for a City that was a light on the hill for decades.

Yes, lawsuits can drag on, but really bad ones get dismissed or settled - look at the Observer - 6 months and judge threw it out.
The hospital suit is coming up on 2 years. The defense has tried repeatedly to get it dismissed and the judge has not done so. Tends to bolster the idea that there is something there or he'd have never let it get this far. Of course, the defendants would never admit that.
Then there is the Open Meetings violations case going on over a year in Appeals Court, as well as the Public Records violations case.
Can anyone detect a pattern here? Wonder if any other city in the area has so many pending lawsuits against it?

Save Lakewood Hospital raised and spent about $37,000 during the last election. We did our best to get a better deal for Lakewood but the voters decided to throw in the towel.
I don't think the voters disagreed with our findings. I don't think anyone actually thinks the City got a fair deal. I do think that the voters were unwilling to fight the Clinic.
That's unfortunate.
My Premier Physicians doctor is closing up shop and going to work for an urgent care in North Olmsted. She said the Clinic was making it nearly impossible for her to admit patients to a hospital, to get referral of a specialist or to get any cooperation at all from the Clinic. Her comments are similar to comments made by other doctors and specialists. Someone at Orthopedic Associates told me that for the last five years or so the Clinic made it very difficult for them to schedule surgeries or to even admit patients.
The goal of the Cleveland Clinic is to destroy the independent doctor and to secure a shared monopoly on health care in Northeast Ohio. The willful destruction of Lakewood Hospital is an important part of that plan. Why would Mayor Summers and members of City Council support that plan? They won't say.
Regulatory agencies, judges and political leadership have chosen ignore the law and undermine efforts to hold the Clinic accountable. They are allowing the Clinic to fix prices and restrain trade. That kind of conduct use to be illegal. Someone like Mark Kindt is better able to explain the legal ramifications.
The shared monopoly will allow the Clinic to underserve and overcharge. The end result for the Cleveland area? We will be left with a high costs, diminished services, less access, less charity care and a weaker economy.
We lost more than a Hospital.

"The voters were unwilling to fight the Clinic."
I'm still trying to figure out why the Clinic was sued?
LHA, with Clinic members on it, screwed us on the deal and sold us out, but I would expect that from a corporation.
But our elected officials, acting as our fiduciary agents bear the full weight of responsibility. That lawsuit makes sense.
The war against the Clinic gave smoke screens to City Hall and diversions to the residents. The real scoundrels hide behind, "We can't talk about it.." Our fiduciary agents, our elected officials signed an agreement to keep us in the dark. How does that even work?
A fun little litmus test, which seems more probable?
A large multi-national corporation screwing over little people?
The mayor, council president, and others a City Hal lie, intimidate, spend millions to mislead constituents?
Which is more egregious?

City Hall was not taken advantage of by the Clinic. All of them knew exactly what they were doing from day one, in my opinion. This deal was planned out going back to the Fitzgerald days.
The hospital is a small portion of what appears to be a city-wide, if not county-wide money laundering and HUD fraud ring involving real estate and people's homes. Those that have been keeping up with my posts will understand this better.
The truth shall set them free! ( Hopefully in orange jumpsuits! )

You recently called yourself a "Bleeding Heart Liberal"?
You ask about a huge corporation co-opting a bunch of Democrats clinging to power and some seeking higher office--which is more probable?
These are not mutual exclusives or alternatives.
Both Very Common!
Both Very Probable!
Both are equally egregious.
Bullock--for sale like a hooker on Prospect during the Ralph Perk Administration.
Summers--a former Republican Schmoozing the Cuyahoga Democrats like Frank Russo with his pic with a perm on a gas pump.
O'Leary--a wannabe wet behind the ears "progressive" on Toby's string like a YoYo.
So many invertebrates.
I will let you in on a small secret:
Democrats control just as much wealth & DARK money in Lakewood and the US and are swayed by it just as much as those pesky Republicans--perhaps even more these days.
Hard to tell what the rascals running Lakewood stand for these days.

Re: Interesting Thought...
If the November election proved one thing it's that Lakewood is divided as ever and the Summers administration has no intention of bringing the city together. A 51/49 result is a mandate in their minds.
O'Leary termed the result "a blessing". How quaint!
The ONLY thing they care about is the circle of "friends" who support this disaster and will benefit from it. Too bad for the remaining half of the city's residents they don't give a damn about, like myself.

I did a little search for the origins of this quote, and they are foggy. Its most recent use is by Lin-Manuel Miranda channeling Alexander Hamilton's view of Aaron Burr in the musical "Hamilton."
“Never let a good crisis go to waste." - Winston Churchill (Quote later appropriated by Rahm Emanuel)

O'Leary, bought and sold like a commodity. They are already talking about fast tracking him to mayor!
Bullock, aka O'Leary's hero, also another commodity.
The election only shows what happens when one group spends millions lying and misrepresenting the truth.
Let's not forget, the "crisis management" the intimidation, the false police reports, and the destruction of any conversation that questioned any part of it.
