Whats up with the lakewood Observer?

Post by jackie f taylor »

I go to the home page and click on "Free Classified" I click on rentals, no posts, I click on for sale, no listings, I click on help wanted, no listing, none of the heading have any listing. Why? Why is that section of the L O not being utilized? Why isn't that heading the most visited post in the Lakewood Observer? It's free, cost is not the problem, what does it need, what is missing that would make that Heading more useful to the residents and businesses in Lakewood? I'm just asking.

My own guess would be a combination of:

85% craigslist, and other online services that have become most people's go-to for listings like those. (Mainly by providing better web-enabled versions before traditional classifieds publishers did, then leveraging national and even international brands to keep their leads over localized competitors.)

15% the homepage of the Lakewood Observer is not exactly the strongest feature of this commendable project.

I would think that with all the economic development that Lord Lakewood and Associates keeping bragging about would have brought in tons of jobs by now. Well, I guess you could say that they have brought in a lot of minimum wage jobs with all the bars they keep allowing to open up.

Wow! We truly are working hard to become the healthiest city in America. No jobs to be advertised apparently.

So I ask Summers and Extended Company: what are you REALLY going to do with that foundation money? It sure as heck can't be about health! Hmmmm.

Ok, but Craig's list is regional and national, the Lakewood Observer is local, right here in our back yard, Why would I look up a storefront for rent, only to find it's in California? Where is the local promotion? Where? Lakewood Alive, Lakewood One, The Lakewood chamber of Commerce? If the postings were in the Lakewood Observer, that is were I would look first...

Jackie

Over the past couple months we have concentrated on the neue Observer project, and have taken a slower response.

Any good ideas, send them in, post them here.

Like scotch, The Lakewood Observer is an acquired taste, and we found out a decade ago we cannot be everything for all people.

HUH?

I am not ridiculing anything.

I answered your question and statement.

As you were not around at the beginning, one of our building blocks is, "Do not tell others what to do here, jump in, we will help you do it."

We took a road towards sustainability, which we learned early on is damaged by chasing and trying to be everything for everyone.

Craig's list is where the world goes, our service is just a local version. Our software builds papers but why take on Adobe? You want light and lively chit chat about 4H and breeding programs, Facebook. Veiled negativity with viscous hypocrites, ohhhh Facebook again. (joke)

If you would like any part of this project to be more, send the ideas (is that ridiculing you? no)

You want to run the section? Jump in, you can be the "classified person"

I have absent working on the backside, taking the entire project in a new direction, any and all suggestions appreciated especially before building the new software shell.

You can pick up the "gay, west tech card" no reason to play it here.
