Around 10:00am a house fire was called in at 2158 Clarence. "They are still inside trying to put the fire out." could be heard in the replay of the call. Fire trucks from all over the city and even Rocky River and Fairview to put the fire out. It took over an hour, but the fire was put out, and at least one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The cause was traced to a pillow that ended up against a lamp.

What you would have seen trying to turn south on Clarence from Athens.

Neighbors watch at the 30 minute mark, as smoke still pours from the second and third floor of the house.

Fire fighters come out, grab fresh air, and...

... get ready to go back in. What made it tough, was reports of gun ammo and fire works going on in the fire!

The fire scene.

Smoke pours out of the room the fire started in.

Then water.

Rocky River Firefighters check in with Fire Chief Gilman, then get ready to go in.

Around the one hour mark, it was obvious they had gotten the best of the fire, and were going room by room checking.

Spent air containers waiting to be put back in the fire truck.

Good work Lakewood Fire and Police. Everyone was needed, and everyone responded!

Thank you.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's, I worked at a private club in Pittsburgh. There was a busboy named Marc Kolenda. All he wanted in life was to be a firefighter, and after relocating to Cleveland, I heard that he finally made it. I couldn't have been more happy for him as he was destined to be a firefighter. He even saved the life of a man who had a heart attack during lunch while he was a busboy. All that he wanted to do was to help others.

In the early hours of February 14th, 1995, Marc and 2 other firefighters died in the line of duty putting out an arson fire in Pittsburgh. He had only been on the job for 1 year and was planning to propose to his girlfriend that same night during dinner. He was only 27 years old.

Every time that I see a firetruck or hear the siren, I think of Marc. His nickname was "Cuz".

Ammunition should be kept locked up in a fireproof ammo safety box. Period!

That's just plain Responsible Gun Ownership 101. Period!

As if firefighters don't have enough to be concerned about!!!!

:!:

FOOLS!!

How about not storing cases of ammo?

Responsible Gun Ownership is a fallacy
