The Clinic will not change their offerings to Lakewood - we represent a market share that they want and need.

Telemedicine is a way for providers to make more money at less cost - they aren't going to let that get by them. In fact, it can be profitable for them as most insurances do not cover it. They charge $49 for the first ten minutes or so, conveniently billed to your credit card!

Where does that leave those without credit cards?

And how good is the service? According to Fortune and a WSJ article, I'd be wary of any diagnosis made via telemedicine:

Supply and demand. If the Clinic were to fold their tents and leave, another health system would be here, if not in an instant, pretty quickly.
That's why the arguments about losing out on the "opportunity" presented by the CCF Family Health Center are so bogus.

That's the point. The entire screed of "no one wants to provide healthcare in Lakewood" is a distraction.

We have 52,000 people. It's a large market. Perhaps the Clinic doesn't like our "payer mix," but other entities could work with it.

Of course, that pesky "non-compete" clause our mayor "negotiated" will make that an impossibility.

The Clinic really likes the "premium payers" in our mix--the "other" payers, not so much.

Summers maybe can't delay 21st century healthcare in a literal sense, but appearing to have a judge and members of the court system in your back pocket can certainly help in delaying a lawsuit!
