Pae Says City Council Will Ignore Majority Vote of the People

On October 15, 2016, Jenn Pae wrote the following two questions:

1..“Who is going to get a better deal when 5 of 7 Council members ….voted for the Master Agreement are still in office?

2. “Five is a majority, and one of the new council served on the Lakewood Hospital Association board…What would compel them to throw everything they know away?”

Well, Mrs. Pae, here are the answers to your questions:

1. We live in a democracy where the elected representatives are supposed to represent the people. When the people speak, the representatives are supposed to listen.

2. Since the December 21, 2015 vote, many facts have come to light that:

(a) undermine the entire premise upon which the Master Agreements was based, e.g. Butler’s bogus legal opinion; and

(b) the elected representatives didn’t understand what they passed.

3. Finally, Mrs. Pae, the “Who” that will get a better deal will be the people of Lakewood. You know, the people “Who” you work for and the people “Who” pay your salary>

She's admitting they can't do any better.

Incompetents.

Will any of them ever admit that they did not read through the entire agreement or read all the surrounding documents?

It was easier to "go along, get along" than to challenge what they were told by the Clinic reps.

Is she admitting that they can't do any better, or that they choose not to do any better? I think it's both, but the latter appears to be a serious attitude and fiduciary problem.

One can view this any number of ways...
* Ms. Pae appears to already know the sense of the Council and how they will vote?
* Ms. Pae appears to have no sense of the role of representatives in government - does it not even cross her mind?

I firmly believe issue 64 will not pass and justice will be served. Aren't there legal repercussions if they ignore the majority vote?

Never mind reading the Master Agreement.

Has she ever read the City Charter of Lakewood to actually learn about how this government is supposed to work and the built-in checks and balances?

Has any of them ever read it? Summers? Butler? You have got to wonder.

Now is not the time to play catch-up!

I don't think that will stop them. Maybe the For advocates will bring out something big very soon, but they've campaigned much less than I've expected, and it's getting very late. A lot of people have already voted. Two guesses as to why: they don't have as much money as last fall and/or they are confident that the City will ignore the will of the people.

We need to make sure enough people vote Against 64 to make it very difficult for them to ignore us.
