Why Is It One Group Wants Conversation, One Group Wants Silence?

You know it has amazed me over the past two years of the City Hall driven Hospital Debacle, that many many residents want to talk, hash this out, look at the facts, and try to digest this in ways that makes sense to them.
And another group desperate to stop conversation, free speech, desperate to control or stifle media and residents?
When a City Hall votes to dispose of records faster than any other administration, then proceeds to fight to keep public documents secret for 4 election cycles, you really have to start wondering just how bad those pages are.
!2 years ago, the Observer started with the understanding, civic discourse can get rough and contentious at times, but it is far better than silence.
Time to reset City Hall, before it gets out of control.
Vote Against 64, let's see the documents, then and only then decide how to move on.
In the open, as a community, without cover-ups, without lies, without the win at all costs mentality.

Good question - why does your group want to ban people, stifle their speech and control the media? This is the only place, Observation Deck, I have heard mention of banning people from their right to free speech. This is the place where people have been banned for opinions against the norm (of the Deck). A place where group mentality to run off others seems to dominate the discussions. A place where a separate propaganda thread has been put in place with no offerings of a discussion - and this was done on purpose and proudly touted with intent of no discussion.
I find it ironic that the very people who are complaining about limiting free speech are the ones who are actually promoting such limits on speech. This is a sure sight of a group trying to stifle the media and residents.
I believe the proper response by a juvenile to this thread would be "whaaaaaa." Or, "look in the mirror much?" Or, "That's like the pot calling the..."

Last week, my son and I were having a conversation with a couple of residents from the Westerly. When Lakewood Hospital came up, they became very upset and said that all talk of the hospital issue was to be discussed only in the offices of the Westerly. Subject dropped! Why the panic? Why did they appears to be scared? I believe that Curt Brosky from the Lakewood Hospital Association either owns or runs that place. Could Mr. Brosky allegedly be threatening the senior residents at the Westerly?
My mother has a friend that lives at Fedor Manor. She informed my mother that Mayor Summers has been coming into Fedor to talk with them about the hospital and how great our new "Urgi-Care" is and always bring them cookies. Really Mr. Mayor? Allegedly bribing the senior citizens with cookies? Now that hits an all time low! However, my mother's friend said they they are on to his lies and will be voting against issue 64. She had some other choice words regarding the Mayor, but, I will leave that up to her to say!
How desperate do you have to be to appear to be preying on the elderly? Really? I find that disturbingly disgusting, Mr. Mayor!

That is a lie, and attack on the LO Brand, you have no idea if or why anyone was ever banned.
You have zero proof of me or the LO attacking FREE SPEECH, which underlines just how little you understand about free speech.

No Corey, who was banned and for what reason?
Dying to hear this.
Just Corey BS, attacking the Observer brand, trying to drag it down.
How did we stop someone from speaking their opinion, because something is posted in a read only section, and in an open area?
Perhaps this can help?

Apparently Mr. Curt Brosky of the Westerly and Mr. Summers appear to think that free speech is only free when you are speaking favorably about the Mayor and the alleged illegal deals they have made using OUR money. It appears that these two have now allegedly been threatening the senior citizens and trying to lure them with gifts! I believe they both are disgusting pigs!
Mr. Mayor, we just had another rape in Lakewood. Care to comment? Oh, that's right, you like to keep the crime stats quiet!

You crack me up. You really don't think this site has limited people's ability to speak? You do read it, right? So you know how many people have posted that they fear posting on here due to antics such as you are doing now.
The section you mention, as you put it, is a read only. So that limits discussion. The section is also edited by the moderator, as you mention, so that limits it. The moderator is in your back pocket. Etc.
Funny how quick you are to call my comments "BS" - your word, not mine (good thing you did not write out the full word or you would be in violation of your own laws, then again, you do mention that navigating loopholes is also grounds for banishment - I believe you have found a loophole in verbiage - again proving your immunity).
Who else is immune?

As many complain about you as anyone. I say the same thing, the same thing you have said. "He is painted by his own brush."
Back to "the founders" thingy, we never wanted to be FB or the next hot thing, ever. We wanted a sustainable project that would allow people to both get information out, and discus opinions, ideas, thoughts etc. The School section, the Election section allows posts without conversation. Oh hell, er heck here comes the secret society BS.
The section is moderated, read only, on topics posted by the writer in full in the open discussion section. More attacking the brand, with BS.
Corey, again I love your interest, especially when it happens during a big breaking story, and want to answer each and every question, so to handle this in the correct way I am moving this to a new discussion about the Deck. EVERYONE can post their complaints, and we will try to get to each and every one of them.
Yes you will be able to comment. Another one of your suggestions, but I bet you complain.

Mayor Summers is trying to silence everyone in Lakewood that is not in agreement with his alleged theft and money laundering of Lakewood Hospital. Now it appears his friend and alleged partner in crime is trying to silence seniors at the Westerly. Summers allegedly bribes seniors at Fedor Manor with cookies. I think it has been proven over and over again here on the Deck and elsewhere that persons that speak out against the Mayor are allegedly being threatened, harassed, and in my case, trailed all over the city by the police and other city officials.
Any sane person would ask themselves why it appears that Summers and Extended Company are going to such lengths to keep people quiet. Maybe there is another web site that lists only Summers and Extended Company's side for those that are searching for a different point of view.
Mr. Mayor, I wanted to give you a heads up, you will not find me by the land banks today. I will be out of the city for awhile. Tell your alleged stalkers, I will be back on Monday!
Please call off your alleged stalker who has been following my son at school and on the RTA busline, or I may have to file charges. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.

Corey,
I attended a court hearing this week where a BL supporter, Mayor supporter, and owner of a "news" twitter feed is trying to silence free speech. In fact his attorney is trying to get cleveland.com to release the real name of one of the posters who never even mentioned or said 1 questionable thing about this person. BTW this person wasn't even in the courtroom, shows how much he cares about his case. The judge even asked why he wasn't there... I guess it is easier to be tough online and behind the pen writing postcards than to talk in person....
If you are pro clinic you are likely to get "attacked" if you post on the deck but at least you are allowed to post. The BL facebook pages and most of their supporters delete and block any comments that question their goals.
If you don't see how open one side is to dialog vs the other you are either not paying attention or you just like to spike Jim's blood pressure.

Ms. Allen, thank you for your efforts. I'm not making light of intimidation by those in power, but one has to believe that a bribe of cookies for a vote is a time-honored tradition. Or should be.

Mayor Summers and members of his coompany are allegedly harassing and stalking the citizens of Lakewood that are speaking out against him. It appears he has me followed ALL over town and even, at times, outside the Lakewood border. As advised by my attorney, I have a dash cam with me at all times.
Apparently I have really ticked him off as it appears he is once again, having a city hall employee following my child at school and on the RTA bus line. This has been happening on and off now for two years.
Just because it appears that he and his friends have been caught in an alleged hospital theft and money laundering scheme does not give him the right to allegedly abuse his powers. Should the police be following me around or should they be protecting the citizens of Lakewood? Should city workers be doing their jobs, or following me around?
Now it appears that Curt Brosky, another alleged member of the alleged steal Lakewood Hospital gang, is allegedly threatening the seniors at the Westerly to not speak about the hospital, as evidenced by a few residents. The allegedly corrupt mayor is trying to trick the seniors at Fedor Manor by giving them cookies, and allegedly telling them lies about how the "Urgi-Care" is great and they are completely safe.
Enough is enough. Time for ALL of us to stand up to this man and tell him, no more!
