The Observation Deck

Do LO Deckers know that the "White Lightning Discussion" exists and contains a compendium of Bad Government information from Dan Alaimo, Brian Essi, and others? This is great summary information surrounding Lakewood Bad Government and Issue 64.

A concern is that, this late in the game, this information does not get the same readership and commentary that it would get here in the "Lakewood General Discussion." This is no time to lose or confuse the readership!

Maybe post these on "both" Discussion/Forums at least until the election.

Mr. Mager, I had no idea that The Deck was now exiling information and commentary pertinent to the upcoming referendum onto some minor forum.

BRILLIANT!

Why stop the sequestration there? Lets ship all that good stuff over to The Lakewood Buzz. I'm sure they can bury it even more effectively than The L.O.

Posting these to the Deck is something obvious we forgot to do. These are the "Bad Government" articles Brian Essi has been writing for the print Observer since early this year. I've been doing a little introductory editing to make for faster reading, with an eye to posting them on Facebook, and then in a recap section in the print Observer before it's too late for the early voting period - which means I have to get them done by this weekend.

How does this sound? I'll start posting links to them in separate topics here so we can discuss them.

If you want to help, go down to the SLH office and volunteer for calls and canvassing. That's what I did last weekend and it took a bite out of my ability to complete this project. Brian has done that too.

Mr. Alaimo, thanks for the reply. I discovered these and simply did to want good (and important) work to get overlooked.

Although "White Lightning" is a really stupid name, I like this concept.
The information is not being "exiled"......all of the original posts are still on the Lakewood forum for comment.

The new forum offers uncluttered access to the information -- no comments, no thread drift.
Deliberate attempts by some folks to "hijack" Hospital threads further muddied the waters....this provided the impetus to package Hospital info in a more easily digestible format.

The new forum has been promoted on Facebook, so it's reaching a broader audience that may want to research these facts.

Mike reminds me how stupid the name is nearly hourly.

This builds on an old idea we always had, for a section with distilled white papers, and high end discussion. Open to read not open to everyone to post. We knew early on unlike so many, that Observations are not always fact, but often contain enough gold, when place together to be worthy of more.

A classic case, Bill Call's observations that the hospital is losing services, for year he said, "Hospital Closing" I had dealt with CCF on hospitals closing, they have published timelines, and made the announcement and left. As they wished to do here, but the Mayor needed 6 more months to get his plan organized, non-profits formed, active living task force to form, etc. Meanwhile I am talking to a supplier that deals with all VVF hospitals and he mentioned, no deliveries after June.

Two Observations, what came out of it.
1) Pretty good proof hospital is closing, and by the end of September 2014 I had proof..
2) Summers group orchestrated the closing to come in Mid-June as was announced in 2014 by LO. Just after the closing date to file for Mayor.
NOW WE ARE DEEP IN TWO FIXES, and Lakewood gets played, bad.

We need a place to put our conclusions, and this is it for now.

I have to be honest, there is a strange philosophy at work in this project.

But in the end, it seems to work.

I would also mention this is not a "Bad Government" discussion, it is just that Dan seems better and faster and producing distillations than others.

But it is all BG information - don't fight it. In any event, I hope that however you manage it, Mr. Alaimo remains the final editor and author/poster so that the material continues with a consistent, high-quality, unified voice. There is value in that.
