Can Lakewood City Schools Afford to Operate a Recreation Center?

Even if it is gifted to them, can the City Schools afford to operate the proposed recreation center?

What is the annual budget for operation, management and capital needs of the proposed recreation center?

With a school tax increase slated for next year to cover other shortfalls, why are they adding to their debt?

Lakewood Schools Rec Department just received a 85% approval for the way they run programs.

Lakewood Schools have a long history of running great extra-curricular activities.

The City of Lakewood has a pitiful history of running Rec stuff.

Witness the ghetto called "Kids Cove" which was neglected until it was unsafe, and now is looking for ways to pay for the repairs.

The City of Lakewood has run the public pools into the ground. NEGLECT, while Mayor Summers squandered millions on his pet projects, the pools now need nearly $4 million in repairs. His spending of Jacobs money like a drunken sailor is out of control.

The City has proven time and time again, they can't do Recreation.

Jim,

I know that the City is incompetent at recreation.

My questions were different than the ones you answered.

Recreations programs and activities require money, including money for security, maintenance and capital improvements even after the facility is gifted to the schools.

Where is the money going to come from?

The school board clowns have already gone over budget with the construction of the new schools. They will be knocking on your doors next year with their hands out for more of your money. They are NOT fiscally responsible. Trust them with a recreation center? That is like trusting a pyromaniac with a lighter and gasoline!
