Here's an article about why politicians lie and why they keep doing it even when the lies are exposed.

I see many parallels to the hospital issue and our supposed "leaders." It also explains WHY people will believe those lies, and again, I see proof of that here in Lakewood.

As to their their tight, interconnected groupies:

Politicians and their adherents live in an echo chamber in which everyone watches the same news channel, listens to the same talk radio, reads the same newspapers and web sites, and hangs out with the same like-minded people. There exists an impermeable membrane that prevents conflicting information from entering.

Importantly:

People don’t want to hear the truth. Truth, as the saying goes, hurts and no one wants to hear things that threaten their existence, their beliefs, or that will make them uncomfortable. It is decidedly better for politicians to tell people what makes them feel comfortable. Why should politicians be the purveyors of bad news (and decrease the likelihood of getting people’s votes) when they can tell fairy tales with happy endings (which, of course, everyone wants) and come out the victor.

Finally:

If a lie is told enough times, people will assume it is true.

So the "leaders" continue to victimize the most vulnerable among us.

You speak of "the most vulnerable among us being victimized", read both my posts I posted recently here on the Deck, Are city and county land banks one big scam and "Discrimination, Cuyahoga County appears to target little guys while ignoring bigger fish."

I suggested over a year ago that I believed there was a lot more questionable and possible illegal happenings going on in Lakewood besides the, what appears to be illegal and immoral hospital give away to CCF. It appears that CCF, Summers and his Extended Company have done more than just steal our hospital and given us a crappy Urgi Care in return. It appears that now, more than likely, they are using illegal means and ways to steal property from Lakewood citizens, seemingly for their own use/profits. There will be much more coming on the housing subject soon. It appears that if you are elderly, have a terminal disease, Asian or black, your chances of having your home stolen from you by Summers and Extended Family appear greater.

If council is not involved in these practices, I believe that they surely are aware of what has been going on. It appears that none of them are concerned enough to report these acts to the proper authorities. Since it appears that Summers and Extended Family have made deals with the local media outlets, they know that there is a slim chance of this going to media. However, we all can tell our fellow Lakewood Citizens and refer them to read the Deck to see what our city government really appear to be doing to destroy our city and lie to the citizens that pay them to run this city.

Does anyone out there really believe that we should trust Summers and Council? Even Build Lakewood people should be taking a second look. It appears that our Mayor and Council have sold our safety and healthcare to CCF for much less then what it was worth, and held up the middle finger to their citizens. It appears that now we have discovered what appears to be some extremely immoral and possibly illegal dealing with our land banks and citizen's private homes. Do you think anything that we have been told is true? Could your house be next?

It appears that Summers and Company think that because they own the media and have friends in higher positions that they are untouchable. I believe they are starting to get scared. Perhaps they feel the walls closing in!
