Haves & Have Nots – Brian Essi speaking for the Haves, “We are not the solution to your problems.”

You always hear about it, but not often does is glaringly smack you in the mouth.
When I was shopping for my first house, my legendary Lakewood realtor advised me to stay west of Warren Road as the best places to live in Lakewood reside to the west.
The first I had heard of the term NOLA residents was in the last 10 – 15 years, after living here my entire life. NOLA stands for North of Lake Avenue.
It has even come up in school topics such as Lincoln Elementary School residents and Grant Elementary School residents.
It now appears on the Deck in blinding fashion. Lakewood’s select rich looking down upon the problematic poor and underserved and expressing thoughts, views and opinions.
Brian Essi wrote: I understand and respect your (underserved) jealously of what my neighbors (Edgewater Drive) and I have.
Brian Essi wrote: Actually, neighbors have encouraged me to post and make comments
Brian Essi wrote: We are not the solution to your (underserved) problems.
This even comes up when discussing the Mayor.
Brian Essi wrote: He (Mayor) gives you (underserved) jobs you're not qualified for.
As it has been stated before – if you hang out on the Deck long enough you will see who people really are.

Growing up, you never heard the term "Wrong side of the tracks."? Or in your case, "Right side of the tracks"?
Stan, wake up! How about you?

Of course I heard those terms, but never used in Lakewood's sense. I envied people who had grass as green as you.

I picked up on NOLA the 1st month I was here (some told me it's worse as one goes east toward my Ward 4 and Birdtown) and don't even try to enter Clifton Beach on the very western fringe of Lakewood.. There's some dark, unspoken and avoided prejudices in this town and only made worse than I saw in NYC because it's so much smaller. This is life as we know it and it's not going away.

Jim, Corey, Alex,et al---
We all know that there are differences in Lakewood. Actually, that's one of its prime virtues. Of the original five basic classes (Vance Packard, 1950s) Lakewood has all five. Very few communities or cities in this age of self sorting can make that statement.
I, personally, think this characteristic is a virtue. However, it has its dangers.
The primary danger is that it becomes a basis of an "us vs them" attitude or a source of animosity.
I am in awe of LeBron James and his skills. I am not resentful of his accomplishments. Likewise, were he to know me he might recognize some characteristic of me that he admires. (Can't think of what that would be at the moment)
But, I think you get the point-- let's enjoy the diversity, maybe use it for some constructive competition and interaction, but not let it take us down a dark path.

Folks,
The basis of this thread is a lie. Corey Rossen intentionally inserted the words "underserved" into the quotes above. My original words were directed at Corey and his freind Rick and are here:
Brian Essi wrote:
Corey,
You are sounding like Rick.
Rick,
You are sounding like Corey.
I understand and respect your jealously of what my neighbors and I have.
However, Summers is not Robin Hood, he won't give you what he is trying to take from us.
We are not the solution to your problems.
Your see, I never used the word "underserved" that Corey inserted to change the meaning.
To my knowledge, Corey and Rick are not Members of the underserved. As far as I know, Corey is the son of a successful businessman and was blessed with education and good fortune. It he squandered it and it unhappy, I am not the solution to his problem.
Corey's freind Jay Carson is aligned with Summers and people who took money from a charity (LHA) and spent it on lies and political propaganda to deceive the public. The money should have gone to the underserved. Because I have been an outspoken advocate on behalf of the undeserved and have exposed Corey's previous lies about me and the lies of a PAC Jay Carson was deputy treasurer of, it appears Corey is upset.
Corey's dishonest tactic in this post tracks the the tactics of the people who took money from a charity to spread lies. So Corey made this and other things up to keep the focus off his friends' and his own behavior. As has been pointed out by other posters, Corey lacks substance in his post. His post above fails the test of substance because it is dishonest and petty--he has nothing of substance to say so he makes stuff up.
How sad is it that Corey, the founder of Jordan's Family Foundation, chooses to adopt the same tactics as people who took money from a charity (LHA) and spent it on lies?

I believe he thinks that i'm rick uldricks. or he's just being a dick. maybe both. either way, i'm cool with it. he gets his nuts all twisted when I use profane language but I guess it's ok to call a woman a man. just another example of his hypocrisy.

Brian Essi's efforts to expose the lies and find the truth is annoying a lot of people.
His public records requesst discovered a great deal about the rigged bidding process, the misuse of public funds and the deliberate destruction and wasting of City assets.
I suspect he is on the cusp of discovering even more misdeeds. Hence the hysteria.

The first text in this edition of the paper.
“The freedom of the press is one of the greatest bulwarks of liberty, and can never be restrained but by despotic governments.” George Mason, (1776)
I would say he is a little past cusp on the next phase, and he has set the stage perfectly, the the cast characters fell into the trap better than one could ever imagine.
Nixon didn't bring Nixon down, his "cuban plumbers" did.
Interesting summer it will be

Maybe he is only looking out for his select underserved. You must not fit into his good will to the underserved.

I think his approach and mannerisms are annoying people. Hence the supposed "hysteria."

So now he "trapped" people while "setting the stage?" Let me guess, "you read it here first."

Why does seeking the truth annoy you?

Not the truth...it's the approach and mannerisms.
Why do you overlook the approach and mannerisms? I continue to hear about and read how these two items are losing you followers, why does this not concern you?
