It has come to my attention that either Friday or sometime over the weekend, Wilbert Rd. was patched all the way through from Lake to Cliff Dr. They even patched by the catch basins, water valves, and all the way from curb to curb.

The following streets will be patched after Wilbert, although most of them get much more traffic than Wilbert:

- Atkins
- Hathaway
- Westlake
- Hall
- Edgewater (near Kirtland Ln.)
- Roy
- Donald
- Parkhaven Row
- Margaret
- Others

Photographic evidence below:

Did Summers' call and complain about his street? I don't know for sure. However, it would be typical of a Lord such as Lord Lakewood to put himself first and his subjects and serfs last.

Maybe they reserved what little patch the city could afford for Wilbert and they are waiting on a Cleveland Clinic contractor to come in and do the rest of the streets because Lakewood can't afford patch and a contractor would be cheaper!

Some of those streets look really awful. Is that the impression we want to give those outside of Lakewood?

I cannot imagine Wilbert getting more car traffic than Atkins. How is the order of street repair determined?

Bridget,

I don't ever remember a time in Lakewood when our streets were not patched this long after winter. I don't know if there's no money for patch or if Summers laid off more of our city workers.

In regards to street resurfacing, these are the streets being paved this year:

- Leedale
- Erie Cliff
- Lake Point Dr. (ex-school board member, LHF member, and good friend of Summers lives here, street is not even bad)
- Athens from Belle to Warren (Dru Siley's street, go drive down it, it is not bad)
- Andrews (only from tracks to Detroit, school board member's street)
- Chase (a couple of Summers' friends live down here)
- Merl from Manor Park to Bunts (this should be done)
- Elbur from Clifton to Merl
- Chesterland from Franklin to Madison (John Litten's street)
- Leonard
- Shaw
- Northwood (street is very bad, but should have waited until Mckinley Place is done so heavy trucks don't tear up the road)
- Newman from Franklin to Madison (this should be done)
- Delaware from Carabel to Arthur (at least one alleged mayor's friend lives here)
- Richland (a couple of LakewoodAlive people and Summers' friends live down here, but street is bad)
- Hall from Lake to Clifton

I notice that they are holding off on paving Brown AGAIN. The only reason I can think of that this is not being paved is because there is an older gentleman and war veteran that lives down here. He is always complaining about his street and how it floods every rain. They have allegedly had armed guards throw him out of city hall a few times because they didn't like him asking questions. Not to be morbid, but are they waiting until this gentleman passes away on purpose so he can't enjoy a smooth street? Rumor has it that City Hall was harassing him at his home a while back.

Last year, Kenneth was paved. This is not a heavily-traveled street and it could have waited. However, one of the mayor's secretaries and a couple other mayor friend's live down there.

If you go back at the streets paved, you will notice that the total miles of streets paved each year has decreased during the Summers administration.

I will sit back now and prepare to be blasted off planet Earth! Time to put on the sponge suit! I suspect one of the mayor's three amigos will be blasting me soon! :D

Mike,

The Solstice Steps that just happened to open right around election time?
The Solstice Steps that some old lady fell down last week?
The Solstice Steps that a certain someone at City Hall took all the credit for when someone else designed them?

In all seriousness, it was a nice idea. But I would rather have good roads before Solstice Steps.

I saw it as a possible fall hazard when I first looked at them, how about being able to fish Lake Erie from the shore. Not everyone can afford a boat, what a waste of money. Wonder how much maintenance the steps will need. Access to the mouth of the Rocky River is locked up, unless you own a boat or know someone who is a member.

Even the smaller potholes can be dangerous for motorcyclists and bicyclists. If you hit one the wrong way, you can potentially be thrown off balance and fall.

If your car is damaged or if you are hurt as a result of one of these potholes, file a police report as soon as possible. The officer should come out and photograph the pothole and your damage. Don't wait five days and give City Hall a chance to be like a cat and cover it up. Even if you don't think you are hurt, make a report anyway. Then, file a legal claim with City Hall. They are aware of most of these potholes. If they deny your claim, consult a lawyer, as you may have recourse in civil court.

The same applies if you fall on one of City Hall's cracked, busted-up sidewalks. My son fell two years ago on the one by the annex. We should have made a report. It is still not fixed. We probably have no money to fix it.

Talk about negligence! Gross negligence, that is.

Wow! They were out patching today! I could even smell the asphalt it was so fresh.

City Hall claims to hate the Deck so much. They must read it, if a lot of the issues are fixed or worked on once brought up.

It appears that Mayor/Public Safety Director Michael P. Summers plans to continue this same charade this year. That is: ensuring Wilbert and Edgewater are patched before anything else.

Let it be known that as of 4/7/17 last week, Wilbert and Edgewater all the way from Nicholson to Parkside had been patched. This was not just a few patches here in there, this was a full patch job, with nice, smooth, packed-down asphalt all over.

This part of Edgewater gets very little traffic when you think about it.

Meanwhile, these streets have been un-touched, even though they have or had medium to large-sized craters in them at the time that Edgewater was patched:

Lincoln near Garfield & Delaware
Riverside south of Hilliard
Atkins south of Hilliard
Warren south of the railroad tracks
Victoria south of Hilliard
Newman south of Detroit
Lakewood Ave.
Athens near Lakeland
Quail south of Madison
Franklin near Newman
Clarence north of Detroit

The list then goes on. With the exception of a few, I am pretty sure most of the above streets get much more traffic than this section of Edgewater and Wilbert.

Does anyone really believe for a minute that Edgewater was just patched before any other street two years in a row by chance? I sure don't. My belief is that the mayor or one of his friends called and screamed. If I call and scream, will my street get patched right away? Barring the resident being a mayor friend, if a resident of Newman, Waterbury, or Brown calls and screams, will their street get patched?

Ms. Marx, where do you stand on the mayor and friends obviously getting special treatment in regards to pothole patching?

Mr. Nowlin, where do you stand on the issue?

On a final note, I will add that if your vehicle or yourself are damaged by a pothole: take the following steps:

1. Take photos of the pothole and damage immediately.
2. Make a public records request to City Hall for pothole complaints in the area of your incident (most potholes have been reported to City Hall)
3. If the pothole that caused the damaged was reported, call City Hall and ask for a damage claim form.
4. Fill out the damage claim form, including the photos and the pothole reports, and send the form to City Hall.
5. If City Hall denies your claim, you can take them to civil court.

If the mayor and his friends want to be selfish, as it appears, that is fine, but don't make the rest of Lakewood suffer.

I can't believe they drove dump trucks and other extremely heavy vehicles up and down my street (Bayes Ave) for two years while they completed the school across the street, but then only paved athens (I know you are saying athens has been neglected, but I just watched them resurface the stretch from Brown to Warren last year). Bayes avenue is bad beyond belief, and so is Brown between Athens and Lakewood Heights.

I tried to find a list of resurfacing projects on onelakewood.com with no luck but found this article. I assume there is a press release somewhere associated with this but I couldn't find it on one of the worst websites ever. Brown is on the list, but sadly, Bayes is not.
