Today I stopped by the new "Scales and Tails" pet shop on Detroit Avenue.
It specializes in reptiles and related supplies.

I interrviewed the owners and will have an article in the next print edition.
In the meantime, feel free to check out my photo gallery at http://www.lakewoodobserver.com/photobl ... -pet-store

Gary the Bearded Dragon, the store's mascot, lives in the front window.
He likes to welcome guests to the store.

This colorful chameleon is among the dozens of great pets available for purchase.

It is nice to have another local pet store. Pets General is another local store . They are very knowledgeable there and are always friendly. When I first saw the Scales and Tails sign, I had to look again. With it being right by the vape store, the I unlock your stolen phone store and Lyca phone store,( call your drug dealer in Colombia for less ), I thought at first it was a digital scale store, ( for weighing your dope ) and a hooker joint.

Do they sell fish at a reptile store? It would be a great day to go fishing, especially with someone who hates everything about Lakewood and is quick to point out any and all flaws.

The store is located at 13618 Detroit and is called Scales'n Tails from what I can tell online.

Frankly, I was blown away at the beauty of the two lizards in the windows when I walked by the other day. I have never seen lizards this big and gorgeous for sale before. Since it's a south-facing store, all the sun was perfect to keep these animals warm. Now, I see that the owners have installed blinds covering the cages to keep them a bit cooler. I guess you can have too much of a good thing.
