Which CCF-Affiliated contractor will this bid go out to?
I suspect that all of our garbage men will eventually be laid off.
I will fight to keep them. Will you?

There is talk of privatizing, garbage, building, and other services. These are all indication of a broken system, and the city raising the cost of living here without going to an election.

Jim,
I saw Traftech the other day painting the lanes and crosswalks. I believe the garbage will be next. The trucks and Cushmans break down on a daily basis. I believe we may still be using cold patch on the streets instead of hot patch. Our collectors right now are busting their rear ends and working overtime to try to keep up with the early and late put outs and the bed bug infested mattresses, When your garbage is contracted out , it is once a week and bulk pick up is once a month. Lord and Company are already refusing to do anything about the garbage situation now. If it is privatized, we well be looking at garbage and bed bug infested mattresses. 24/7, 365. Notice how we haven't heard anything about cut backs at city hall or salary decreases. The majority of workers at city hall are way over paid. I guess if you are a part of Lord and Company's plans, your salary and your rewards are limitless!

This is correct. However, the bulk items and recycling are usually done by the city. I see stuff out every week at the Lake House, Marine Towers, Edgewater Towers, and others. I think they get the regular, small garbage picked up by contractors, however.

I'm going to put this out here to the city. Please do not privatize the garbage collection. I work on the east side with a lot of folks from Mentor and Willoughby, and pretty much without fail, people say that their private service sucks, that they pay more for less service than when the city ran it.
Lakewood's system is a DIFFERENCE MAKER. The service, combined with our own reclamation facility, is a big deal.
City leaders, do not go "Lakewood Hospital" on us and explore this in the dark.
We stay competitive as a city for young families by delivering "clean and safe" with services such as terrific trash collection/recycling and virtually unmatched police response. Let's keep the good things we have, and keep investing in them.

Condo garbage collection was privatized in the Sinagra Administration.
The is talk of privatizing damn near everything at City Hall. Everywhere I turn I hear about it. Tax base left the city, now they desperately look for ways to fill gaps and get more residential money to turn over to their faux movie set known as "DowntowN." Not to mention the loans they will use residential tax dollars for in financing their private plans.
Paul, I am not sure if you ever had a puppy. But when a puppy piddles in the house, you scold at the spot you catch him doing it, and take them outside. Otherwise, the dog continues to piddles in the house. You certainly do not reward them for the bad act. Here in Lakewood we just rewarded the puppy for secret and harmful actions, which they have never come clean on yet. Actually City Government has gone the other route, hiring thugs to go after residents, until they got caught, now they continue their fascist behavior on the side. They are out of control. One should remember there are no bad dogs, just bad dog owners.
If the residents do not care about the truth in the single largest event in Lakewood in 50 years, then they should care not as they are bled dry to support commercial development.
This city was played for rubes.

You seem to say this a lot. Where does the money go here?
Just curious.

A lot of this stuff is being investigated. At this time, I can't really disclose much.
