City's Failure to Assess Health Needs Exposes Faux "Planning" of Faux "New" Foundation

So there is a general consensus among city leaders and astute observers that the CCF Community Health Needs Assessment is inadequate and inappropriate for use in "planning" the "new" health and wellness foundation.

But that hasn't stopped Summers from "rounding up the usual suspects" to "plan" the "new" foundation.

City Council has taken no formal action of the foundation, but Summers is plowing forward---indifferent to the Community Health Needs.

By setting the "attributes" of people he seeks, before understanding what the community needs are, Summers exposes his an agenda to control the money for a predetermined, yet private "plan."

The foundation will be nothing "new"--it is a continuation of the old.

Meanwhile, I'm told that Ken Haber has resigned as LHF president.

The first check box of Summers' "Planning" Task Force application is "Finance, Accounting"

Hmmm

Hi Corey,

No worries. It's all in the COW recording from Monday May 2nd. I also spoke with Mayor Summers that night and he agreed.

BTW. We didn't hear from you on your vision for the foundation and how it will make us healthier?

Is there a reason you went silent?

You claim to have expertise is this area that you can share with us and help us be productive.

I think you are misunderstanding this:

It seems to be they are looking for input, not finalizing a foundation.

It's fake. Just as fake as LHA.

Lip service and pretense.

Please share your vision. Help us understand.

My vision includes a banjo and moving forward. At least there is a banjo but I fear not all can hear it.

Just like they looked for, or considered resident input in the hospital debacle?

Corey there are 0 strings on your banjo, your song is worn out. When a whole community gets stabbed in the back you seem to think when the knife is withdrawn there is no wound. Kiss and make up is BS.

Ha! I never thought of that.

I have been very skeptical of a lot of things in Lakewood over many years. Some have come true and others have panned out.

I thought it was interesting when they knocked down the old fire station, KFC, Burrows, a movie store, a couple of banks and several other storefronts for high end shopping in central Lakewood. I was optimistic. The intent was good but years later... the parking lot is always full, at least.

I thought they were out of their minds when they started re configuring schools, construction plans, renovation ideas and intentions. The results have been fantastic.

It is hard for some to look past the current state of affairs but it must be done to move forward. Optimism can be difficult, but possible.

So other than just "moving forward" for the sake of forgetting the past, what is your vision on your "heart-healthy" idea? Can you offer anything specific to build upon?

This is nothing new. I think this has been brought up in several threads.

Absolutely, but I will save that for an outlet that is not social media based.

Corey,
Optimism is impossible when the folks in charge are all liars and deceivers.

So...what is next? Does Lakewood ever get past the hospital situation? Do we stop progressing as a city? Are all the eggs in the basket painted with hospital logos?
