We have found out that a new Vape store will be moving into the space next to Robeks. This is certainly good news as it is one of the fastest growing industries.
Stay tuned

I'm glad to see that City Hall knows how to DREAM BIG.
However, I'm not sure how this fits into Summers plan to be "the healthiest city in America".
The proprietor might want to reconsider.
The FDA decided last week to regulate vaping...that may put a brake on this speeding train.

The city should zone "Vaping" so it stays off Detroit and Madison. Put it up on Berea rd. Or just ban it entirely. Who Vaps? It's ridiculous.

This is a good read. Many of these E-Cig or "vape" products still contain nicotine, a very addictive substance found in traditional cigarettes. According to this article, they also contain propylene glycol. Propelyne glycol is commonly called"non-toxic antifreeze". Regardless of its toxicity, is this something we should be encouraging people to ingest?
We already have a vape store right down the street from Garfield Middle School. Students from the school walk by this everyday. I have already posted evidence here that the bars are serving to underage persons. What will stop these stores from selling to underage persons? There is also one on Madison by Harrison School and one on Lauderdale in a residential neighborhood. Would Summers allow these on Wilbert? We could build mini-stores on the Cliff and people could watch the sun set while they vape. On the other hand, I am surprised Wilbert hasn't been zoned commercial for alcohol establishments!
Finally, did anyone notice the Lyca Wireless store on Madison by Chesterland? You can call the world for less! In other words, call your drug lord directly in Colombia, Honduras, or Mexico! Eliminate the middle man, more savings passed onto you!
Also, rumor has it that Summers will not be finishing his term. When he does leave, he can say "chaos, commotion, my job here is done"!
Just thought I would add a tad of humor before I am accused of "ranting".

This must be the big news that JOB keeps eluding to coming in the Summer 2016.

Actually, that's old news.
The Mayor told Bill Grulich and DL Meckes last spring that the reason he was running for re-election was to destroy the hospital. I believe his exact wording was "to see this through".
This regime is well-versed at the art of quitting elected positions so that a replacement can be appointed. This sets up a campaign advantage over any potential challengers.
I'm sure JOB has some other, much more interesting story lined up.

on "seeing this through...
If/when the referendum succeeds, and depending on what happens with the SLH lawsuit, it's going to turn the deal and the elected City government upside-down. I'm sure they will do everything they can to nullify it, but if the Mayor leaves before that it will look less like "mission accomplished" and more like "Governor" Sarah Palin.

For real, we get the hottest growing business in the country, and every goes nuts.
Seems legal, seems like they can pay their bills.
Not the replacement for the Clinic we all wanted, but they are only taking up a small space.
People get worked up over the craziest things.

Payday lending is a thriving business....can we DREAM BIG about having one of those downtown, too?

Just because we were promise high end shopping doesn't mean that is what works here. Perhaps we should be grateful for Vaping and Check Cashing.
It is funny most of the BS in this town is caused by people wanting Lakewood to chase this or that, "Dream Big." For years many of us were comfortable with good enough.
We were promise HIGH END SHOPPING and got Dollar General, who appears to be a better community partner than any Coach Handbag store.
We were promised high end shopping with habitrail elevated walkways, and got Marcs, which has been packed ever since it opened.

I just discovered Marcs today. Couldn't believe how much cheaper everything was. I'll be there more often. I guess it took me 17 months because the Giant Eagle stores caught our attention quickly.

Marc's accepts cash, Discover credit cards & checks from approved customers. Don't try to pay with your First Federal Lakewood debit card, though! (All Lakewoodites bank at FFL, right?)
