Well our spring snow storm hit last night, and should be gone by tomorrow, but until then...

Everything covered in snow!

From the top of the car, looks like 5" or so.

Image
Major roads plowed, but extremely icey.

Image
Even Detroit had a good layer of ice on it.

Image
Car slides into PNC Bank, at a pretty good clip as the air bags were deployed.

One person inside, injured.

Luckily, no one was on the sidewalk at the time.

Decretive post knocked about 30'.

You can see the shine of the ice on Detroit Ave. as they turned onto Robinwood and it just keep sliding.

Ice in all directions at Detroit and Warren Road.

It should all be gone by tomorrow, so be safe.

Good work Lakewood Police and Fire.

First, I certainly hope the driver is OK and will recover quickly from injuries.

Next, the following questions are entirely appropriate in the circumstances.
Car accident, 3 blocks from (closed) Lakewood Hospital.
What hospital did EMS take the patient to?
Was that hospital able to stabilize the patient, and treat the injuries?
Did the patient have to be transferred to another hospital?
How far away is the other hospital?
Did that hospital have rooms available?
Or did the patient have to wait hours for a room to be freed up?

I ask these questions, and you should too - because this kind of accident could happen to ANYONE - and put you in the hospital.

Through no fault of the driver - road ice could slide your car someplace where it is not supposed to be.

Accidents like these are why we need a hospital in town.

We may be slowly becoming the "healthiest city in Ohio" but incidents like these have nothing to do with being healthy!

The driver was transported and treated at the Lakewood ER. No further transports.

Chief Gilman

I heard later in the day that their might have been a medical reason for the cause of the accident? Is that true?

Thanks for stopping by.
