Council is in process of potentially extending the program, which has been around about a year and a half.
They may even extend the program beyond the original 12 homes.

Any thoughts on this?
I think backyard hens are a great idea, I hope it keeps going.

I think that the program should be opened up to any tax paying citizen of Lakewood who can meet the requirements, not just the select few, hand chosen by council. Open it up to EVERYONE!

Why is council making this decision? The only prerequisite that is needed to serve on council is the ability to say the word "I". Lord Lakewood is the one that really dictates what goes on here! I believe we all realize by now that if he doesn't want or like it, it ain't happening! On the other hand..., I bet he loved the hospital deal!

Hens in Lakewood is just so this century-- why any discussion? Let's just get on with it and let any public official drift off if they don't get on to the NEW century

I may have shared this before...
But about a year ago I was visiting my daughter who lived in a double in a Rochester, NY, neighborhood very similar to Lakewood. It was about a day and a half into the visit before I noticed the hens in the backyard. A couple more inches of snow and I would have missed them entirely.

My takeaway: Make some common sense regulations mainly for health concerns, and enforce them - I'll bet neighbors will help with that - and no problem.
