Perhaps the most stunning admission from Summers' deposition was when he said: "We weren't selling this hospital." That statement exposes potentially criminal conduct in the sham bid process. If he wasn't trying to sell the hospital what we the real point of the RFP process?

Summers was trying to explain away his other admissions that he now may realize expose him to civil and criminal liability. Namely, he never had the hospital valued because so he could steer money and land to undisclosed and unnamed recipients.

Excellent question.

The Mayor was well rehearsed for his testimony but his attorneys could not think of everything. I suspect the Mayor will seek to "correct" his deposition.

I think the main motivating factor in the Mayors decisions was he belief that the money left over after the Hospitals destruction could be channeled to his friends. I suppose I could live without a hospital here in Lakewood if the City received adequate compensation for a business with a book value of $135 million.

But the City gets pennies on the dollar and Lakewood becomes a healthcare desert.
