The Lakewood Hospital Foundation is sponsoring another Ambulance Chase and soliciting funds, ostensibly for Lakewood Hospital, which no longer exists.
Also note that if you go to lakewoodhospitalfoundation.org, you are redirected to myclevelandclinic.com and then the fundraising site.

I know that the funds that make the Ambulance Chase possible is a restricted donation to the LHF, specifically for running the Ambulance Chase. There was going to be a process that could last up to two years as LHF tries to get some of the restricted funds, about 30%, re-purposed for the new non-profit that has yet to be named or purpose defined.
I believe the funds will be placed in another fund until all the processes are done.
This was according to LHF President Ken Haber, back in February of 2015.

The spokesperson for the FB page, a Polly Stringer, claims that "net" proceeds will go to the Diabetes Assistance Initiative. This appears to be a program wherein the Clinic provides services like education for those not able to pay. So does this count toward their supposed "charity" care?

Bridget:
As long as it is someone else's money, the Clinic will take credit for it.

I know they like to talk about how much money they raise, but the "net" profit is what they actually "contribute." I've looked at some of the LHF annuals and do not see exactly how much is actually purposed to charity. Again, they talk about how much was raised but that's the gross, not the net.
Anyone know where that info is?

Bridget,
I just googled LHF and got this website which is modified from last year (it has the most recent 990's):
http://my.clevelandclinic.org/locations ... n/trustees
As I recall when I reviewed this last year, they are sort of apologetic on their 990 explanations as to how marginal the fund raising "gross" is compared to the net.
That website is disappointing because as recently as February 11, 2016, Ken Haber told City Council and SLH that LHF money its not CCF's money.
This is very sad.

I have a feeling that the money may go to the Cleveland Foundation. They appear to possibly be involved with the hospital deal. I remember Haber and Gable speaking to Council at a COW meeting and mentioning this group. They ranted and raved about how this Foundation would be a great place for the money. The Cleveland Foundation appears to invest a lot of their money overseas. This is the same foundation that gave Foran's company a million bucks.

In case you were wondering why an Ambulance Chase sign showed up in the yard of the office building in Rocky River at Detroit & Wooster, I found our connection.
The address for this office building is 19111 Detroit Rd. According to county records, this is owned by River Terrace LTD Partnership. Also according to county records, the tax mailing address for this property goes to Tom Gable's home address.
Interestingly, Linda Beebe also has her law offices in this building. Why not in Lakewood in one of the empty storefronts? Just wondering.
Additionally, I loved looking at their signs at the end of all the freeway ramps. Normally, these are removed by the city or DOT. These apparently were not. Hmmm....
