I hope "Save Lakewood Hospital" will take the opportunity to introduce themselves to "Morning Joe".

Perhaps someone could ask "Morning Joe" their thoughts on :
non - compete clauses.
78 million in wind down expenses.
DECANTING.
and all the other inconvenient questions surrounding this hospital deal, that have yet to be answered.

Time allowing- Maybe someone could ask "Morning Joe" their thoughts on:
a city government that month after month convened in a back room deciding the fate our hospital.
a city government that throughout this process treated truth and transparency as if they were some sort of contagions.
finally maybe someone could ask "Morning Joe" about GREED. Both of the institutional and personal variety.

Really?

A chance for local business owner and the city to shine, and we are going to ask Conservative Republican Joe Scarbourgh about the decanting process?

Really?

So what are you going to ask Donald Trump when he arrives?

Wonderful...Joe will spend four hours fawning over The Donald live and direct from Lakewood!
Mr. Trump might even call in for an interview...if he does, Julie should place a big golden plaque on the wall to remember the day.

Mr. Buckley has a valid thought...MSNBC staffers will spend a few minutes interacting with actual Ohioans...so if they see someone in a SLH shirt, Mika might say something like "healthcare seems to be a big concern here".

Michael Deneen with MSNBC's Steve Kornacki outside of The Greenhouse on East 4th. Coke was full when conversation started.

Mike though you talked with Steve for a real long time, and you did even talk about Lakewood hospital for a little bit.

One would ask... What does Mika saying on NATIONAL TV get anyone saying, "healthcare seems to be a big concern here."

As opposed to something like, "If you are in Cleveland check out Lakewood and the Root Cafe!"

Way too many people trying to bring way to many people that don;t make a difference. On both sides.

IMHO

We're focused on the local details, but this is part of a national issue - the closing of smaller hospitals, the cost of health care, and the ability of big health care systems to co-opt politicians, and I'm sure many more that I'm not thinking of. A national broadcast should be interested. Plus the Lakewood situation is pretty compelling theater.

"Hello Morning Joe, The Root Cafe is part of a vibrant community here in Lakewood that once included a well-funded, well-financed, profitable community hospital. As of this very month, that hospital, the highest and best economic use of that land here in downtown Lakewood, in the most densely populated city between NY and Chicago, has been closed and sold off for pennies by the greed of hospital corporatists and political corporatists. The financial future of Lakewood, the health of its citizens, and nice things like Root Cafe are now at great risk due to corrupt actions. Might you please start an investigative series on the co-opting of community hospitals across the US, starting with Lakewood Hospital as ground zero? It's a compelling story that includes those SLH protesters/truthers, the non-profit CCF, and a craven governmental cabal."

They don't care.

They have come to "flyover country" to "find out what's happening on the ground in Ohio".

They care about two things:
*Will Ohio be "another Michigan" for Bernie?
*Can The Donald beat the sitting governor to lock up the nomination?

All very good, but lead with the national angle. That's their audience.

Michael, I'm not sure what makes a good story. I know that Chris Matthews , who may or may not be there, is a disciple of Tip O'Neill, whose famous aphorism is
"That all politics is local".
I sincerely hope that Save Lakewood Hospital seizes the moment. Red shirts on. Signs in hand. Talking points at the ready. That' s democracy.
Hey "Morning Joe" you've stumbled onto a real story. Your move.

My, oh my! Looks like MSNBC will be the "Face of Lakewood" this weekend. ;-)

Finally feel like I'm back in NYC covering media events like this one as a member of the NYC press corps. Wonder how the citizens of Lakewood will react to all this hoopla?
