News Flash!!
The Cleveland Clinic plans to move skilled nursing beds from Euclid Hospital to Beachwood. Sound familiar Lakewood residents? Lakewood City Council???
CCF bought 47 acres in Mentor in 20012, had it zoned for medical use, started clearing it in 2013 and recently announced that they would build a FHC on the site. Hmm...mmm.
Deja vous.....
I do not know how to make the following link viable. a little help from the Deck gallery please.

I'm confused. This article says that Councilman Polensek is "outraged" by the idea of losing hospital services.
Shouldn't he be excited about all the "new opportunities" that closing the hospital would create?
He also said "We can't let them do to Euclid what they did to Lakewood". He acts as if our City Hall made some sort of mistake.
Doesn't he read the Plain Dealer? He should know that Team Summers is never wrong. If you don't believe me, ask Jen Pae.
Polensek obviously needs to be sent on a Cleveland Clinic retreat for some Soviet-style "re-education".

Damn Right Healthcare is changing " All Right". Some Big Corporations are making a a " Huge Non-Profit Take "at the expense of the people that need help. Cutting Costs is good for their bottom line.

Mayor Summers should endorse the closure of Euclid Hospital. Think of the opportunities! Where is Build Euclid?

Councilperson Polensek said : "We can't let them do to Euclid what they did to Lakewood"
Mr. Summers , Mr. Siley , Mr. Butler, you've just been shown up.
I'm left wondering how different things might have been if Lakewood had a Mr. Polensek on it's City Council, instead of weasels like Mr. O'Leary and Mr. Anderson with their backroom politics and cynical maneuvers that ensured a delay of any vote on Lakewood Hospital.

It probably had too many beds anyway.

Better close the thing down before it loses money and they get stuck with an empty lot which they'll have to fill with some kind of development. Build Euclid!

Looks like it would be a great location for a new city hall and rec center! Build Euclid!

Absolutely incredible! But I'm confused. If Euclid Hospital is in Euclid and Polensek is a Cleveland City Council member, why is he even involved or quoted? The hospital is not even in his city! And (maybe) if he is so outraged due to Euclid Hospital's vicinity to Cleveland itself, why on earth did Lakewood not hear from him about Lakewood Hospital???? Lakewood borders Cleveland too, ya know!
Does Polensek live in Euclid?

Polensek's ward borders Euclid so many of his constituents rely on Euclid Hospital and its services. Makes sense to me that he'd be concerned, as well he should be. But it is funny how no one from Cleveland commented on the Lakewood situation when a lot of Cleveland residents used the facility. Could it be .... the Cleveland Clinic? They really exert a powerful influence over politicians - no one dared speak against them, except Kucinich and Skindell.

The last paragraph of the story is absolutely spectacular, when viewed against the happenings here in Lakewood:
But (Cleveland Clinic spokeswoman Heather Phillips) said that the Clinic will follow through on its plans to bolster the offerings at Euclid Hospital. "What I can tell you is this is really about bringing services to Euclid," she said.
Congratulations Euclid, you're about to taste the sweet fruits of your own Vision For Tomorrow.

One factor to consider:

One key difference: on the westside, Cleveland stands to gain from expanded operations at Fairview Hospital. Cleveland will be more than happy to take some of those tax dollars that Lakewood chased away.

You have no idea, it's pretty wild.
But there, the City at least my good buddy Mike Polensak is fighting it. It will be interesting. In the past if the city fought them they got a better deal than Lakewood got and a family health center.
Here it wasn't about health care, it was about the booty of the funds from two non-profits holding assets for a public institution, and soccer.
