Fellow Lakewoodites:

My good friends at Lakewood's Division of Aging are always looking for volunteers, and they've just asked me to get the word out about a very special need.

It seems they immediately need more volunteer drivers for home delivered meals in our community. This is a critical and very satisfying job for anyone wishing to help the elderly or infirm to be sure that they get a hot, nutritious meal.

Please call the volunteer office of Lakewood's Division of Aging (Department of Human Services) at (216) 529-5005 if you could share just a bit of your time to help someone in need, even if you could only share one hour a week!

(Heck, some of you spend more time than that, just figuring out what to post here on the 'Deck!)

Just bumping this to the top again, because of its critical importance in the lives of so many elderly.

Lakewood has excellent and meaningful programs for the elderly, including meals available at the Senior Centers East and West, along with many social and recreational programs. Most, if not all of these programs involve community volunteers.

Home meal delivery is also a critical program for our city that depends on volunteer assistance. Please consider contacting Lakewood's Office on Aging to volunteer, whether with meals delivery, or with one of many other volunteer opportunities that exist in our community. :D
