2016 Lakewood PTA Reflections Ceremony

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

January 27, 2016 at Garfield School was one of the Lakewood PTA events I have looked forward to each year since we started the Observer Project, Reflections.

It is a celebration of the Arts in Lakewood, a city that is filled with artists and a rich history of artists going back to the turn of the century. Once a year we come together to award those that entered and were selected as the top art of the year, and what art would be sent on to the State level. 2016 was a good year for art.

Kicking of the festivities was Christina McCaullum...

Next up was Kim Walcheck, Lakewood PTA President, who introduced...

... Tim Hayes, Founder and CEO of Cardboard Helicopter, and LHS alumni, whose wife was a Reflection winner in the past!

Honored Guests; Tim Hayes, Founder/CEO Cardboard Helicopter, Roxann Ramsey, Asst. Superintendent Lakewood Schools, Tom Einhouse, Lakewood School Board, Betsy Shaughnessy. Lakewood School Board, John Litten, Lakewood City Council Ward 3, Emma Petrie-Barcelona, Lakewood School Board, and Pat Carroll, Lakewood Municipal Judge.

Then it was time to get them off the rear end, and up on stage to celebrate ART!

It is just great watching the look on the kids faces and they travel across the stage.
