Fire On Ethel - Fireplace Starts Attic Fire

Around 9pm on Saturday night, Lakewood Fire Department got a call for a fire and smoke at 1218 Ethel. Upon arriving flames were visible in the attic. Lakewood Fire started to extinguish the flames and entered the building and Rock River Fire Department was called for back-up if needed.
The cause of the fire was traced to the fireplace had caused the fire in the attic. Please make sure you have your chimneys cleaned, and checked, and do not keep flammables near the chimney in the attic. No injuries.
