Lakewood Baptism - a poem

Post by Alex Belisle »

I haven't written in a long time, so here's my 1st poem I've written in Lakewood appropriately entitled "Lakewood Baptism"

Lakewood Baptism

The sky cries this morning
As my heart gently weeps
There's that small, still voice that beckons me
But I said my good-byes a year ago

There's a different energy here
More hidden yet quietly resilient
Friendlier yet dark shadows quietly
Spread under the arboreal covers

I've resolved to make this my home
Even while those voices tug at the edges of my soul
Yes, the rain - baptismal waters
Seep through me - rebirth awaits.
"The desire to win is meaningless without the discipline to prepare."

Alex--- I like it! I like it! It has that je ne sais croix----(French from 7th grade at Harding). Would I be correct in describing it as cautiously optimistic? Stan
