The Observation Deck

Was there any other Observers at the Monday night School Board meeting? I attended and was kind of shocked that there was nothing on the Observation Deck about it. The last post on the Education portion of the Deck was me and it was from weeks and weeks ago. Seems it is a dead section of the LO. It was a pretty powerful meeting by the looks of it. Tons of teachers showed up to support a speech by their union leader to the Board. Also Board members noted they received 80 or so letters from teachers complaining about recent decisions and unfair treatment by the Superintendent. Evidently the Board members were very concerned but the visuals were of interest in that during the union leader's entire speech Superintendent Patterson never looked up from what seemed to be distracted and unrelated note-taking. I am a newbie to Board meetings and this entire situation and was surprised no one on the LO was either present or discussing. Was someone there and I missed the posting about it? With this teacher concern and ongoing concerns about arts education, Gifted education and some building funding issues I would think the LO would be hopping with school updates. Time to start some?

PS A positive part of the meeting was the update on the school construction. They are still on track with completion on expected dates. They are looking pretty sweet and I can only assume the extra nice spring-like weather has only made it easier to keep up.
