UPDATE - City Hall Still Not Ensuring Residents Get Money's Worth

Recall that a couple of months ago, I made a post here on the Deck about the state of our streetlights around Lakewood and how a large number of them are burned out or otherwise malfunctioning. I have been reporting these to CEI via their website as I see them, but I can only keep up with so many.

I am starting to wonder: why am I doing all of the work? While City Hall obviously cannot track every single streetlight outage, they should be noticing some of them and reporting them to CEI as they see them. The City (the taxpayers) pay CEI a flat rate to maintain the streetlights. In my opinion, this is City Hall not making sure we get our money's worth. We have a mayor and seven council persons that are supposed to ensure that we do. Can streetlight outages sometimes be easy to overlook? Absolutely. Do I expect City Hall to keep track of every single one? Absolutely not. On the other hand, elected officials should be paying slightly more attention and taking a slightly more proactive role in addressing these issues and other issues, such as garbage out early, graffiti, potholes, etc.

Please take a moment to download and read over the database I have compiled of current streetlight outages in Lakewood. You should count forty-seven total outages. Also, please note that the majority of these outages are on main roads. I have not even begun to look for all of them on side streets. I have also not looked for outages that much on the main routes like Lake Ave. or Lakewood Heights Blvd.

If you notice a streetlight out, please take a moment to look for a pole number and address and sent it in to CEI at this link: https://www.firstenergycorp.com/content ... html?form=
If no pole number is available, please make sure to note that in your report to CEI. Although at the end of the day, I am still thinking "Why am I doing all of the work for City Hall?"
