Kevin Butler: "We'll Have To Learn More" About Surgical Development Partners Plan For Lakewood Hospital

I agree with Kevin Butler----City Hall has fiduciary duties to the citizens of Lakewood to conduct due diligence on Surgical Development Partners plans.

If so, I think that City Hall will learn that Lakewood now has a viable partner for continuing an acute care hospital with hospital ER, inpatient beds, surgery center, rehab etc.

FYI, I was told that Cleveland.com got their documents from the Deck.

I don't think Mayor Summers is interested in due diligence and I don't think he is interested in health care in Lakewood.

The Clinics proposal is to transfer 1,500 jobs and hospital services to Avon and build a small medical office building on the corner of Belle and Detroit. That's it.

When the Clinic convinced the City Council to approve changes to Hospital operations the Clinic promised to make Lakewood Hospital a "Center of Excellence". Councilman Butler was initially opposed to the Clinics plans. He later voted to approve those plans because the Clinic made assurances that the Hospital would really be a center of excellence. We later discovered that the Clinic never made the necessary investments and was actually planning the "decanting" of the Hospital at the time they were promising investments in Lakewood.

The Clinic was lying then and it is lying now. I think the Mayor and Kevin Butler know this but I don't think they care. The question is, why don't they care?

I recall when Madeline Cain was Mayor, she stood up to CCF and threatened them with a law suit if they removed certain services. Thank you Madeline for looking out for the health and safety of the citizens of Lakewood. I realize some people disliked her because of the West-end deal, but at least she did not let CCF highjack our hospital. Perhaps Summers and Butler should consult with her to get direction on how to be leaders instead of paid spokespersons for CCF.

Butler, Summers, Bullock and Madigan all voted for the 2010 plan---They can't bear to admit that they were foolish, wrong, lazy and not so bright. So they want to sweep it away by pressing:

THE EASY BUTTON
