So what will the tax ramifications be when (notice i said when) the hospital is gone? I pay 8500 in taxes now. I cannot afford to pay anymore. i just can't. it is not possible. for what i pay the city should at least give me a no parking/do not block driveway sign in my front yard. calling the police 3 times a week or more is getting old because some moron parks in front of my driveway. (at least i was told that if i do hit them it is their fault...)

Unless you foolishly bought your house at the peak of the market, you should collect a good sum for what I can only imagine is a very nice house, based on your property tax assessment. Real estate agents are chomping at the bit to list houses in Lakewood.

My guess is you'll still be compelled to get involved in issues as well, hopefully much more important ones than a local hospital, because there are vastly more important issues to fight for in the city and state and country. You will have to do some research on the Deck to find out my history with the Mayor and the fact that he kept the fact that we had a serial rapist here in Lakewood a secret from the Community. I thought this was one of the most important issues I've faced as a Woman in Lakewood. For you to insinuate otherwise is just downright ignorant.

If you would wipe the SLH filth out of your eyes, you'd see that I am for most of the same things you are, including supporting your lifestyle with my voice and my vote. Ok...NO fighting in my thread!!! I don't like it. I am a very sensitive person.

And yes, I did say that there is a chance I might have to move. But that is because of taxes. I can't afford to pay more. 8500 is a so much as it is now. I am barely getting by now. Adding more to it will break the bank. Will I be sad? Yes. Will my kids be heartbroken? Yes. But eating is important. And electric and heat and water is important. And downsizing is not an option.
But you have to really ask yourself, how many people can afford it anymore if the taxes do go up?

Missy that sad truth is that our taxes in Lakewood will always go up, the loss of the hospital probably only accelerates it a little. I know just what you mean about the kids. My goal since my oldest child started school was to provide stability in her school situation, otherwise I'd have left many years ago. She's got a few years of high school left and then hopefully it will be time to move along.

Of course the ohio state waterproofing loan will accompany me on my travels as a constant reminder of how great it is to own a hundred year old home! Would that everyone could experience the bliss!
